Ben Mendelsohn's Accent
I know Ben Mendelsohn is Australian, but watching the Movie which I loved I had a hard time figuring out if his accent was British or Australian. Thoughts on this subject?

shareI understand where you're coming from but does everyone in every movie have to all have the same accents?
Maybe his character was born in Aus and spent the later part of his life in the UK?
His accent here wasn't anything like an Australian accent. It was rough English, probably London area. Ben Mendelssohn is pretty amazing at accents I find.

It sounds like a South East London accent, lewisham or Woolwich or somewhere in that sort of area.
sharedude, nowhere near an australian accent
Doublethink. To deliberately believe in lies, while knowing they're false. Henry Barthes
Sounded like a convincing London accent to me and I come from SE. I didn't know he was Australian until looking on here after having watched the film.
shareAgreed. I was very surprised to find out that's he's Australian, he sounded exactly right for the role.
shareben is a great actor. I'm aussie, lived in uk for 8 years, he does a great east end london accent. that young guy who plays his son is also great. you should see him in that northern irish film '71.
shareWholeheartedly concur with most of the posters on this board. Great actor and a very good and rough SE London accent.🐭
shareHis accent was facking brilliant. I don't know why Americans have such difficulty differentiating accents from different countries.
shareAs a Brit, and like everyone else here, I can say his south east accent was spot on.
