Ink had some terrific strengths but was, I thought, undermined by some bad direction of the actors--too much stuff played too over the top. It's still a strong 7 in my book.
This is just flat out brilliant, a 9.4 right now, and if it gets to 9.5 on a rewatch, that gets rounded up to 10.
The insane thing is that it was not the best low-budget sci-fi movie about free will that came out in 2014! I thought Frequencies was even better. They are #3 and #10 in my current top 10 of the year. And I think they're both among the top 15 sci-fi movies since 1997 (when modern sci-fi film really began after a huge dead zone in the mid-90's).
Prepare your minds for a new scale of physical, scientific values, gentlemen.
