Pretentious, gimmicky, self-indulgent garbage

I think the only one that's insecure here is you. I saw Birdman over two years ago now, and I enjoyed it. Did it deserve to win Best Picture? Probably not. Was it a total masterpiece like many seem to think it is? Not in the slightest. But with that being said, it's still a well made, original, and interesting film, at least in my opinion. I liked that it was shot in the way that it was, with only 16 visible cuts throughout, as I found that rather impressive on a technical level, and I felt like everyone gave a genuinely solid performance, even if they almost lapsed into melodrama at times. Now, either of those things could be seen as negative aspects, and I understand that, but almost any movie that takes such a distinct, stylistic approach, and is still a success in spite of it really speaks volumes for what it has achieved, even if you don't particularly approve the risk they've taken. One of the best movies ever made? Maybe not, but one of the worst? I couldn't disagree more.

I can see why someone would be disinterested or bored by Birdman, I really can, but please don't assume that everyone that likes it is a stereotypical know-it-all, or a pretentious moron, and definitely don't go around spouting your opinion as fact.

I have a sneaking suspicion that your response will be vitriolic and spiteful regardless of what I've said, but I hope you're not just trolling or something, because I put more time into this than I would care to admit.
