First time I watched an anime series, impressed!

As the title says, this was the first time I decided to watch anime (although I have watched a couple of anime films like Grave of the Fireflies), and I found it quite entertaining.

There are a couple of things about anime that I don't like, such as the exaggerated personalities and general hysteric dialogue, I find it distracting. But I do LOVE the art direction in this series and of course the story.

What I want to ask my fellow IMDB'ers is if you can recommend other good anime for a beginner like me :)

I've heard good things about Ghost in the Shell and Full Metal Alchemist BTW

I haven't seen Attack on Titan yet but I you want to get into Anime then I highly suggest FullMetal Alchemist Brotherhood, that show got me into anime. Also Death Note was very good but I didn't like it as much as every else did.

for beginners Neon Genesis Evangelion is the way to start.. particularly if you like AoT.. Death Note is also very good but entirely different whereas AoT and Evangelion are quite similiar.. Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex is my fave series but that can be rather complicated for beginners.. and yeah FMA brotherhood..

I just started AoT on July 18. I have seen seven episodes so far and I am loving it. It is my first anime because I do not count the small handful of Pokemon episodes I have seen in the past.

One of my favorite shows is Gungrave, which is a crime drama with a pretty small dose of sci-fi/supernatural elements. You might like it since it doesn't have "hysteric dialogue", it's very somber and moody. Also Monster is pretty damn serious, but I thought it had too many confusing flashbacks.
