Season 2 hits a wall (No Pun Intended)

Attack on Titan is a franchise which has literally smashed the international market from Japan. Based off of the highly popular manga series, the anime series that aired in 2013 drew in more fans to the franchise. Part of the success was down to the fact the creators followed the manga extremely closely. This meant no episode acted as a "filler" episode, allowing each episode to build to a fast-paced story which built suspense and excitement for the viewers.

Fan rejoiced last year as season 2 was announced, however this has now hit a wall. Aimed for release this year, the series was set to create original content as the manga was still being written. Well not any more. Attack on Titan season 2 has been suspended for this exact reason. The creator of the franchise Hajime Isayama and the director of the anime Tetsuro Araki have both stated the manga should always be four story arcs ahead of the anime series. This means original content will not be required and keep the alignment between the manga and the anime that fans have come to expect. The manga is currently only two story arcs ahead of the anime, which means Tetsuro Aaraki can not complete the second series of the anime without creating original content.

While many fans will cry out in rage that they are having to wait to see the second series, it should not be ignored that it is only being held off for very specific reasons. It is not a case of the creators not wanting to release the series yet, but instead keep true to what fans have come expect from the anime. I personally support the creators as they know the format of converting the manga into anime has worked with great success. If they were to create new content it could alter massively the direction of the story in years to come when compared to the manga.

Fans of the franchise can still look forward to the computer game set to be released later this year. The game has already been released in Japan and is set for release in Europe and North America later this year for Playstation 3, PS4 and PS Vita.

But is it? We may never get a season 2.

That article and all others like it are bulls..t. There is no official source to back them up. It has been repeatedly said by the creators that the anime would continue in 2016. All this talk about it needing four arcs is bulls..t.

The first Season adapted around 32 to 34 Chapters. That's about 8 Volumes.

We're on Volume 20, 79 Chapters in now. The Manga has exceeded the requirements of material needed for a next season. Season 2 has enough material to make those next 24 to 26 episodes and more if they want to.

If they want four arcs then its pointless since they'll likely be waiting till the end of next year. The Creator said he wants to end the series now at around 25 Volumes and last year he and the editor said the manga has about three years to go before it wraps up.

Season 2 will likely come out at the end of this year. And then Season 3 will come out in 2018 around the time the Manga has finished.
