huge plot hole

after she killed everyone there was no point leaving. she had all the water (wells) and gas she needed for the rest of her life.

reply

The wells were dry, genius.

reply

not really, Carson was draining all the wells to himself, there was probably huge amounts fo water there(stored at the very least).

reply

She had no real reason to stay either(other than basic survival) and she always dreamt of leaving that place to somewhere better.

reply

And what would she do there all her life? There was nobody left except a kid.

I only ask to be free. The butterflies are free. - Charles Dickens

reply

Obviously she is a pedophile, why else would she risk almost certain death to take possession of that precious little boy when she stood by when a man closer to her age was captured and innocent people were murdered? This is probably the same reason why she is leaving all that water, a pedophile would want to cut off the victim from familiar or comfortable surroundings, and instinctively a pedophile likes to stay mobile to stay ahead of justice.

reply

Talk about taking a theory too far. I've wanted to know how she knew how to fly a plane?
There's always two sides to a story; no one person is innocent

reply

Actually I saw two other plot holes, besides your obvious one. Yes she could have stayed becasuse there was all the water she would ever need. As the man said, it was for his daughter. He gave her the valley. The other two plot holes, are:
1. How did she learn to use the sword? She knew how to use it, and was not just hacking away with it.
2. How did she learn to fly the plane? Unless I missed something, she was not a pilot. or trained.

reply

These aren't plot holes.

1. Maybe she didn't want to stay

2. Maybe she knows how to use a sword

3. Maybe she learned to fly a plane

You don't understand the term 'plot hole' - Just because something wasn't overtly explained doesn't make it a plot hole.

reply

Actually, that's EXACTLY what a plot hole means.

reply

No, it isn't. A plot hole is a mistake or missing element in the plot, such as illogical or impossible events, and statements or events that contradict earlier events in the storyline. There's no contradictions, just lack of exposition, hence no plot hole.

reply

wiki master, no contradiction, but missing element

reply

So you'd prefer a full back story for each and every character,a breakdown of their skill sets and an entire bibliography of their life's reading. What a fun movie that would make. Use your own brain to fill in the gaps.

reply

You're right. The word plothole gets thrown around too loosely on imdb. If she already knew how to fix a plane... why is it hard for people to believe that she also knews how to fly one as well?

reply

they had books, and they knew how to use them.

reply

I was kinda busy while watching this movie, but they were mostly farmers there correct? A lot of farmers know how to fly thise crop duster planes. When I travel through Arkansas I see them all the time in the air during the summer. The only thing that kinda bothered me is why she didn't take the weapons of the people she killed.

reply

was the movie good?
is this an australian flick?

reply

alipura seriously one needs more than to just survive to be happy. Of course she was going to leave with the boy to try and find a happier existence and an easier way of life.

reply

I could have overlooked this plot hole if during the end plane scene we saw where they 2 of them had gathered up a BUNCH of water and other resources.

But nope, they apparently they took nothing lol

reply

DreadFox I guess they threw caution to the wind which is a big mistake. For them to not take extra supplies with them was stupid but maybe the excitement of just getting out of there overwhelmed them and made them make some bad choices they just usually wouldn't have done. The thing is though they got the plane started and we didn't see takeoff so who is to say they didn't just shut it down after testing it to see if it would run and then loaded up on supplies eh?

reply

yet another complete misuse of the word plothole.

In fact she explicitly stated she wanted to escape to the land of milk and honey , and penguins.
Why would she stay just because her hell hole sand trap has water now?
