Underrated gem from Seth McFarlane

Sure, it's full of toilet humor.

Sure, Seth McFarlane isn't the greatest actor on Earth.

Sure, it runs a bit too long.

But damn does it have a lot going for it.

- Great, throwback Western score
- Amazing cinematography
- Hilariously pokes fun at Western conventions (the duels, the bar fights, a chase, a final showdown, etc...)
- And dirty, funny humor if you like that sort of thing
- Plus Liam Neeson as a truly repellent villain who plays it straight throughout

I personally think this film is an underrated gem and better than anything else McFarlane has been involved in and the huge list of cameos cracked me up. My favorite was Gilbert Gottfried as Abraham Lincoln ("If any man wants to **** me in the ***, I'll be behind the barn!"). 

The problem with Seth McFarlane is he doesn't know when to hold back on the vulgarity... The reality is Mel Brooks could have easily been as offensive in Blazing Saddles but he knew to hold back so that the movie would be more marketable. I'm not saying this movie needed to be tamed down to a PG rating, but two many of the jokes went into Sausage Party territory which is going to keep parents from letting their kids see it which really impacts the marketability of a movie. Not to mention a lot of the dirtiest jokes in the movie weren't that funny. It would be one thing if they had been really funny but most of them just fell flat... Even the bit with the gun fighter shitting in a hat when on for way to long, the comedy payoff happened with that bit well before he shits in a second hat or knocks the hat over and you see the shit everywhere.. The joke was already over but Seth just keep going as if it was going to get more laughs, it didn't.
