It's time to call it a box office bomb?

Production Budget: $150 million + Marketing budget (maybe from 50 to 100 million or more, pure speculation but it tends to be a large number for this kind of movies)

Current worldwide gross : $235,110,060

Their biggest market is China by FAR, it almost doubles the American earnings, but all of them are falling faster than a rock from the grand canyon.

Now, you could argue that even with those numbers they appear to be earning a little more than the total production budget BUT most movie studios don't go into creating expensive movies to come even, most of the times if they do not earn enough (usually double or more) they can the franchise, so this movie might need to earn north of 350 million to be considered candidate for another sequel.

Of course all of this could be thrown by the window if the infinite chinese money that funded and dictated the script of this movie comes around and wants to do a third movie no matter what.

Marketing is typically 50-100% of production budget bigger the movie the bigger the ad campaign.

Yes probably close to 300M in total cost. This movie will loose a 100M minimum. The first movie cost 190M plus marketing and grossed 100M Domestically and 400M worldwide and was not considered successful. Hence why Warner Bros didn't pick up the sequel. Legendary pushed for the sequel hard and Universal saw the fan base and took a chance. Also probably wanted to improve relations with Legendary.

Uprising would need a minimum 150M gross domestically and 400M worldwide or 100M Dom and 550M Worldwide before any sequel considerations. It's not going to get there.
