That plot line makes no sense - if Muriel has got something wrong with her, why isn't she having tests, being in hospital etc? it seems very ulikely that she would go for a routine checkup, be told "oh, you're going to die, goodbye" and that's that. it simply isn't the way they do things nowadays.

nonsense. there is nothing cowardly about accepting medical treatment. there isn't much nowadays they can't do anything about. the whole Muriel story made no sense, but neither did anything else in this film.
