This. Is. A. Marvelous. Movie.

Swept up by. Then, bowled over.
With the single best script I've ever seen/heard at the movies. An appreciative sincere bravo to the screenwriter.

Went to it on a date night out. Had no interest in it and would NEVER had seen it otherwise. Was prepared to *endure* it, but the opening scene - surprisingly - caught my eye actually more accurately my ear - the words and marvelous line readings of them - and then on, each scene only reeled me more & more in. By halfway thru I was enthrall.

Yes it could have been perhaps 5 minutes shorter but Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel still ranks among the top 5 films I've ever seen.

Intelligent. Beautiful use of language. Acting as top notch as it gets (will stipulate here I am a pushover for a British accent but I was wonderfully taken also by the Indian one every bit as much.) Gorgeous wit by all the characters charming to a man or woman. And a happy ending to boot. What more can anyone ask from cinema?

Without a doubt it should have won multiple awards for the script and if there only were a group honor for ensemble performance, this cast would win it hands down. If Dev Patel's performance wasn't Oscar-worthy I've never seen one that is.

Am not a fan of Richard Gere's acting skills but will confess to severe jealousy of his ability to win the affections of Mrs. Kapoor whose real life persona Lilette Dubey is simply stunningly beautiful.

Didn't realize it was a sequel. Obviously had not seen its forerunner. No need to this marvelous film stands on it own magnificently.

Bravo to all involved, and thank you one & all for as enjoyably memorable a night at the movies as I've ever had.

Yes I think you have said everything I would have said about it.

To be honest, having seen the first one, I wasn't really expecting much as I didn't know where they could go with it but it was amazing and far exceeded expectations.

Would like to just add a sentence to my preceding critique if I may ...

I forgot to include high compliment for/to the film's visual appeal - it has a kaleidoscopic
coloring to it lent of course by the Hindu Indian streetscape & architecture.

Yes I'm still in "fawning all over it" mode with this movie but hey I fell in love with it what can I say?

Having seen, and loved, the first movie, I wasn't expecting it to hold up as well as that film. I really loved it, and it really just completes the first. Beautiful words, stories, and scenery.

Just to note, not that it matters, I'm a 30 year old American.
