A Sequel?

I was very disappointed in the first film. I can't imagine it was successful enough to warrant a sequel.

Well, let's see. The film cost about $10 million to make. World-wide it made about $137,000,000. So, yeah, I'd say that was successful enough for a sequel.

I certainly don't remember hearing much of a fuss about it. I saw it on DVD because I thought it was the film that turned out to actually be Quartet. I still haven't seen Quartet.

See Quartet, it's very good, also with Maggie, but Hotel was wonderful too I thought, can't wait to see sequel. Richard Gere, I don't know about that. It's funny how two people can see the same film and have such a different reaction to it.

reply

I don't know about Richard Gere either. Not a fan of his.

It made a fortune almost out of nowhere and picked up quite a few award nominations for its cast along the way...why wouldn't they make a sequel?

Judi Dench is riding a wave of good fortune with commercially acclaimed films- I expect this will be another hit, though probably not so much as the first.

Where else but British films can one see an ensemble of amazing actors, doing great "little" roles that we all love They are truly actors, who are stars, and must have loved doing this film. Imagine the conversations they must have had, not to mention the fun.
Like Downton, and ensemble of great characters coming to life with these wonderful people.
