THIS 'FILM' IS HORRIBLE!

Historically inaccurate throughout.
Writing could've come from a 7 year old with G.I. Joes
Acting was worse than every Uwe Boll movie combined
WHY CAN'T AMERICA HAVE ANOTHER GOOD WWII FILM!?
>Americans carrying British .303s and German G43 rifles (though they did have Thompsons and 1911's), Germans carrying Thompsons and vintage WWI Vickers machine guns.
Neal McDonough is seen (as a LINE OFFICER) with colored insignia on THE FRONT of his helmet without a commissioned officer's vertical bar on the back (don't worry, the non-coms don't have them either) and a 1990's ERA WEST POINT FOOTBALL PATCH ON HIS BLOUSE.
Every U.S. soldier has WWI era A.L.I.C.E. gear, and almost every German's wearing a WWI German helmet. Phrases like "boots on the ground" (Vietnam), "air force" (post-WWII) and my favorite...
Lt. Conti says, "Army beat Navy, 23-7..." on December 16th, 1944...The Game was over December 2nd, 1944, giving exactly two weeks for correspondence? Conti's an intel line officer, he would've known about that a day or two after it happened if he was a West Point grad...which he's wearing a damn 90's Army patch so he'd better be.

Tom Seizemore needed money.

The German sergeant Donny beats to death in Inglorious Basterds needed money too.

THE ENTIRE AMERICAN ARMY COULDN'T BREAK THROUGH THE GERMANS' "BULGE" IN THE LINE FOR MONTHS, BUT 7-15 AMERICANS WITH TOMMY GUNS AND BRITISH RIFLES CAN DO IT IN ABOUT A WEEK BY TRAIN!?

Hollywood...

They don't care about *beep*

reply

I couldn't watch the whole film, had 30 minutes to go and called it quits.
It makes Windtalkers look like The Shawshank Redemption of war films.
Apparently you don't need to speak German to get past German soldiers.
Tom Sizemore's 51 years old, meaning AS A 50 YEAR OLD HE LED A COMPANY UP OMAHA ON D-DAY?
(General Roosevelt excluded)
I can keep going if need be...

"Molon Labe."

reply

I have to admit I couldn't make it to the end, I was bored stupid watching it.

reply

It was really tough watching a bloated Sizemore stumbling around even though they did their best to edit that. Actors past their prime are just sad in these roles.

Calling Sgts- Sir really irritated me. They even called a Cpl sir at one point.

Movie is just sad. I kinda feel sorry for the younger actors trying to do a good job.

reply

The "sir" thing made me turn off the movie after about 20 minutes. If the production was ignorant of such a basic form of address in the military, then obviously they were going to oblivious to pretty much everything else. Terrible.

reply

Well the deal with germans wearing WWI helmets and having WWI machine guns isnt so far off as this did take place in Dec '44. Germans where using whatever gear they could get their hands on by then.

Don't forget the GIANT BLACK TOBOGANS under the helmets of GI's. Cripes. I loved also in the special Feature "Fabricating WW2" the director talked on and on about "period this and period that". I figured if it had Neal McDonough, Tom Seizmore, and Jurgen Prochow, guys from three of the biggest WW2 films ever made that it might have been good. I was totally wrong.

reply

Noone's mentioned the detonation of a nuclear bomb...

intriguing.

Opinions are just onions with pi in them.

It is pretty f'ing terrible. Right off the bat, new guy picks up a sniper rifle and everyone is treating him like a superman because he shot a guy, and then he walks point while looking through the scope on his rifle....

At that point I understood just what kind of movie this was.

I gotta agree, I bought this on Amazon for like 8 bucks. It is really really AWFUL, dumb story, BAD acting, even wrse directing. Just a plain BAD movie.

reply

Wow you bought this tripe?? Bad times.

What also bugged me is how they got the rate of fire wrong on the weapons. Why make the mp40 sound like a buzz-saw? Why??!
