Things They Didn't Mention

I understand that it was probably a very sensitive subject for them, but I did feel a little bit cheated when I searched more about Matt and found out about things that weren't even alluded in the doc. For example, the fact that Matt was HIV positive and possibly drug addicted/ dealer. There was also a theory that him and one of the killers (Aaron McKinney) knew each other and were sexually involved. I don't know how much of it is true, but it felt like a lot of Matt's real story was changed in order to make him more of a matyr to the gay community. Anyway, it was trully tragic what happened to him and no one deserves to die like that.

Wow.. that is weird that they didn't mention any of that. I watched the film last night and he was painted as a pretty perfect guy.
Thanks for the info

No one is perfect. Or even really near perfect. And the news of him being possibly HIV positive does not make Matthew Shepard a bad guy in anyway. That is only bad if he never mentioned it to possible sexual partners. I got the impression Matthew may not have even known. As far as drugs... that also does not instantly make a bad person. Many people abuse and are addicted to drugs of all kinds. And who knows for certain if he was a dealer? All of this aside there is no reason for someone to kill Matthew Shepard. Matthew Shepard was most definitely a better person than his scum bag killers.

Judy Shepard has made it no secret about matt being HIV positive. There is also no proof of drugs and him knowing aaron mckinney. There was a journalist that wrote a book but it is not credible.
