So is this basically Abby Sunderland's story, except this girl was younger and made it?

Younger, better prepared, using an easier route and a handier boat. Abby was going for a record with a race boat and a lot of fancy untested gadgets in the Southern Ocean which can be a challenge even for warships. She doesn't seem to have learned the slightest thing from her brother, who was a successful solo circumnavigator himself.

Sunderland attempted a non-stop circumnavigation. Dekker enthusiastically stopped along the way, interacted with people (including film director Schlesinger), and did things.
