What the devil happened with the most recent episode?

Was I the only one who thought that the end of the most recent episode was a descent into amateur night? Seriously - who in their right mind imposes the closing credits onto the opening round of the second fight and then ends the show?

They had a short fight that they padded to the extremes and couldn't fit the other. My guess is that second fight goes the distance.

Next week's episode is also marked as the "finale" in the TV listings, which doesn't make sense.

That was a bull**** way to end an episode.

So instead of trying to fit in two fights, they talk & talk about previous fights & have Jericho & the other guy chatting...

Good one, SyFy (as usual)

THEY DID IT AGAIN AT THE END TONIGHT!

Yeah...I ended up ranting about it on the Fighting Robots Association forum.

In all seriousness, have these guys never seen Robot Wars? Even if you're not a fan of that sort of robot, the presentation was top notch. It wasn't a true tournament in some ways - it was a game show - but it was presented so well that it came across as more of a tournament than Battlebots. What they did wasn't hard, either. You had heats, and various finals, all of them self-contained to at least some degree. So, watching an episode felt like you were watching a single unit of a very large competition.

These last three episodes have me wondering if the producers and editors have failed basic presentation in film school. Starting the closing credits right after a line introducing "tonight's fights"? Really?

When did we descend into amateur night?

reply

Yeah, this is one of the biggest problems I have with this show. There were like six minutes of actual combat, and the rest is all filler. Then the fact that there was no crowd was kind of weird. Plus I really wanted to see the Crash/Scorpio fight, and when the episode started it seemed like we were going to see it, but then they went into the wild card business, and that was all she wrote.

At least tonight was almost all fighting.... although I thought Steel Cyclone did better in that round than Steampunk did.
