Stephen King book similarities

I'm willing to bet the writer of this movie read the Stephen King book The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon. It's about a 12 year old girl lost in the woods. Lots of specific details and ideas from the book are included in this movie. Not enough to call it a ripoff or anything, and the outcome of the story is WAY different, but I think anyone who read the book would agree that the screenwriter probably read it. The character's ordeal in the woods unfolds in a similar fashion...eventually having hallucinations that sometimes give her good advice to help her. Also being "hunted" by an unseen mysterious predator. Also similarities in her attempts at survival as the story goes on. Anyone read the book? It's quite short...couple hundred pages. Check it out if you are intrigued by the basic idea of a lost girl in the woods. The girl being only twelve adds to the tension and peril and it's an all-around entertaining read.
