Glasgow life? Well, maybe not...

..but I still found this film hilarious in a darkly horrific way. Emma Thompson was as wonderful as always and her Glaswegian accent, while not flawless was, in my view, pretty darn good. Hers was certainly a role without any vanity whatsoever. It looked like she was having a ball playing Barney's mum. I went to see the film at the Glasgow Film Theatre and the audience were laughing all the way through. It was very funny, but there was also a vein of sadness throughout and I couldn't help but root for Carlyle's sad-sack Barney.

I'm sooooo horribly jealous of everyone who has had the chance to watch this movie. As both a Carlyle fan and a fan of dark comedy I've been looking forward to this movie from the very first moment I read about it, but unfortunately there is still no word if or when it will reach Danish cinema.

Worst case scenario is that I'll have to wait for it to come out to DVD in England and buy it from there.

But I'm so glad to hear your positive opinion.

Oh, that's a shame. I hope you get to see it. Robert Carlyle is great. I've been an admirer since Trainspotting, one of my favourite films.

Thanks, but I've already ordered it from the UK. I've had it for a couple of months now. And it is absolutely brilliant, IMO.

The time lags between posts on IMDb can be quite comical. I know that that I am sometimes responding to something that was written a year or two before.

Glad to hear you have a copy. It is a great little film.

It's available online now albeit via somewhat nefarious means.
