I think this movie sounds hilarious!!

I think this movie sounds hilarious!! I can't wait to see how he accidentally kills his two coworkers! I can see someone accidentally killing one person but two? Can't wait! It seems funny that Emma Thompson is playing his mom since she's only 2 years older than him, but that was the age gap for Angela Lansbury and Lawrence Harvey in The Manchurian Candidate.

I agree - I haven't seen Carlyle in many comedies, this sounds like it has the potential to really showcase that side of his acting talent!

Well if it is half as good as the book then I should be fantastics. Plus if it does well there should be a chance of some sequels (there are seven books in the series altogether)

I read the book over a year ago and have wanted to see it on scrren or on stage since....inredibly excited!

I haven't read the book, but from the description of this movie it sounds hilarious, and I'm very excited about it.

Robert Carlyle has already proved more than once that he also has a talent for comedy, and I'm also very excited to see how he manages the role of director as well.

So looking forward to seeing this film. As I live in the east end of Glasgow, I always enjoy spotting the locations of films based here. Emma Thompson looks a scream in the trailer and I love Robert Carlyle. It'll be great to see James Cosmo, too.

Wait till you can LISTEN to the movie! Then it won't be so funny. I rely upon my school english to get by in the english speaking world. THIS is not english. I am glad I saw a sub texted version, otherwise it would all have been greek to me...

I can now assure you: This movie IS hilarious!! I watched it tonight with my boyfriend and haven't laughed so hard in ages.

It has a wonderfully dark humour, and all the actors deliver great performances.

Furthermore I very much enjoyed seeing some of Robert Carlyle's co-actors from other projects like Brian Pettifer (Rory from "Hamish MacBeth"), Tom Courtenay (who plays Leonard Morrison in "Flood", and James Cosmo (whom Carlyle worked with in "Trainspotting", "Once Upon A Time in The Midlands", and "To End All Wars") in cameos.

The accent is rather strong, but even though English is not my first language, I still managed to understand everything pretty well with a little help from English (Scottish) subtitles.

So if you haven't seen the movie yet, DonnaMedici, you definitely have something to look forward to, IMO.

We watched today - selecting it from On Demand just because we thought the write up was interesting. We loved it. Emma Thompson was a riot. It was very quirky which I love.

It sounds hilarious and it IS hilarious! I agree with the others in this thread. It is a dark comedy that might not be to some people's taste, but I think it's brillaint! The main actors are all great and really embody their characters. Yes, Emma Thompson is hilarious as his mother and RObert Carlyle matches her skills.

A lot of the humour is subtle and there are many very special moments that pass by so quickly they might be missed by many viewers. The script is very quirky, funny and sharp. Hats off to RC for such a brilliant job writing, directing and acting in this, one of my favourite films so far this year. Or the last few years, as well!
