In the ending credits it said that she died of an accidental overdose of her medication.

She was obviously depressed (gee, I wonder why) but it sounds like there were some other things going on. Anyone know what was wrong with her?

It was alluded to in the film that she was abusing her sleep medication. The whole sleeping for three straight days and not being able to be woken up. She doesn't admit it outright but says something about that being a wake up call.

That family deserves a better mother anyway.
