The Ending of 10 Cloverfield Lane Was Terrible (Spoilers)
A great thriller ended with the main character seeing birds overhead and taking off her gasmask, and a completely different epic sci fi action film broke out.
A title card might as well have come up on a black screen that read
"We interrupt tonight's presentation of Misery to bring you War Of The Worlds"
I've heard people try and defend this by saying it's about her facing her fears instead of running away from them, but turning the film into a scifi epic is about the most disjointed way possible to have accomplished this.
Just imagine watching the film Alien, and then near the end when Ripley is preparing the escape pod, and instead of finishing it, put on the ending to Aliens where she is fighting the giant queen in a mech suit. You'd be left with this, "where the hell did that come from, and WTF is going on?" feeling, and that is exactly what happened at the end of 10 Cloverfield Lane. share
