This was such garbage

When I saw a 6.3 rating for this I thought this would at least be ok, but boy was I wrong. Despite the rather excellent cast this is a really lazy film that tries to be clever but is really just another kidnapping/torture flick with nothing new or relevant to add to the genre.

The whole time the film bangs on about learning from mistakes and wisdom gained from experienced - then they show the guy make the same mistake and kill the wrong guy. TWICE. Thereby NOT learning from any mistakes.

Other sloppy sections include the supposedly know it all veteran cops that get outsmarted by a villain that wasn't even that bright (arriving individually with no backup or plan of any kind), the bit with the gun glued to the hand was just laughable - so the bad guy knew in advance that the rookie cop would overpower him and make it outside to be framed (plus how did he not notice the glue when he picked the gun up)? Just ridiculous. Then the poker game at the end showing the cop coming across as one of the experienced guys was just cringeworthy. The guy didn't DO anything, he didn't get the guy, he didn't even do much other than get lucky when he got promoted - plus he killed two innocent people - and then he's acting like the bad ass cop at the end.

Just a really really poor film.
