Possibly the worst film I have ever seen

This was just terrible, there was simply nothing good going for this low budget sci-fi dud.

I have honestly seen fan films with better acting, story and effects and I really feel I have been robbed of 90 minutes of my life!

reply

Yes I'm afraid I have to place it into my three worst films ever. You are honestly brave for enduring 90 minutes; I had to switch to a re-run of the Matrix after about 15 minutes of absolute incoherence interspersed with expletives and cheap Tinkertoy effects. It is hard to imagine which epic they tried to rip off, but if you had to imagine a nightmarish blend of Star Wars and Bladerunner set in a mini Warhammer universe, you might wake up and hit your head on the coffee table. Even my 11 year old son was in uncontrollable fits of laughter. I shudder to imagine the mentality of the Americans who spewed this one onto the circuit.

I guess that means you have illegally downloaded the film which is illegal in most countries. good that you admit your illegal activities

reply

But is it illegal?

reply

Looks like the director is upset with you guys.

At best downloading a digital copy of a film is akin to public performance without the copyright holder's authorization. It's a bit murky when it actually even becomes a matter of (civil not criminal) law and studies have shown that downloading actually BOOSTS sales in many markets. Instead of being all butthurt that someone downloaded your movie, be excited that someone actually gave it a chance (they shouldn't have given it a chance, but that's beside the point) and may end up buying it (this won't happen) on disc. It might even bring attention to the sequel (which no one should suffer through) resulting in an even larger fan (this word is used very loosely) base for both. As the above poster has implied you are either the film's director or someone closely affiliated with him, otherwise there is no way in hell you would have posted this (twice). Not to mention your glowing reviews of 5 of the director's films. All in all I think the thing to remember here, and I have to quote Will Wheaton... don't be a *beep*. Thanks.

this won't happen

 Honest to god spit-take here. Thanks mate. 

With a posted budget of (estimated) 3 million dollars, which is easily more than double what the average person will take home in their entire lifetime, I think people deserve better than this when spending their hard (much harder than whoever made this turd) earned money on a product. Anyone who downloads this illegally, in my strong opinion, is still getting ripped off.

Look up "Nuka Break" on YouTube which is a fan made film. Compare. On a third of the (estimated) budget.

reply

No, it's not. Go look up copyright laws in different countries. Many countries actually have articles about evaluation copies, etc. Just because the MPAA says "downloading movies is illegal everywhere, durrhurr" doesn't mean it actually is.

reply

I download everything before I buy. It's the only protection we consumers have when it comes to digital content. If they offered refunds for crappy films I wouldn't need to download them first.

I do not recall where I watched this movie, I can guarantee I did not download it, may have watched it on Youtube or something.

I am so glad I never spent money on it, however if you are the producer or director, you need a new line of work, can I suggest sanitation ?

reply

thought the interstellar scenes were good but the plot was beyond meh. switching off now at 13 ninutes.

reply

I found it hilariously bad, despite being genuinely confused as to what was going on most of the time. Some of the line were delivered in such a way as to be over the top yet wooden. You can't buy that kind of entertainment. I had no trouble sitting through this movie. It's a gold mine you usually can't find outside of the early years of the SyFy movies.

Must go wipe the tears of laughter away.

Jolly good job they did, actually spending money on a film of this calibre would truly be a crime.

Key word "most" countries.
Be thankful that anyone watched this cr@pfest of a movie that you made, because word of mouth will ensure nobody else ever will.
Destined to be on the IMDb top 100 worst movies of all time, and my personal top 5 worst.

Agreed. The producer needed to spend a little less on the plumbing for uniforms concept and more on a microphone. The first part tells the background story, but the special effects and music overpower the tiny voice telling the story. Doesn't have closed caption so no way to know what was being said. The acting is sub-par and the story has gaping holes. A waste of time and money.

Man! I tell ya, this WAS horrid!
Yes, I complained to my ol' man that I had to waste all that time watching this 'film'.
He chose this laughingly awful movie out of two other movies last night, before bed.
I had nightmares of the Barbie, and shower hoses!! HA!

Seeh? No, because visually it was pretty decent (other than the scenes that were shot by that one cameraman with Parkinson's who gets a lot of work on low budget productions). The problem was the storyline's galactic meandering, and the dialog used to relay that storyline.

Kind of like certain really hot women: visually pleasing, but as soon as they start talking you realize they have the IQ of a box of rocks.

I made it to the 20 minute mark!!! I feel like I've won something. And same time I feel like WTF, I'm supposed to be same species with the writer and director of this *beep* not to mention the person who produced this, ööömmmmm, eh, "movie?"

reply

all your comments actually make me WANT to see this movie :D

reply

Agreed.
The only thing was kinda good, was CGI for landscape, such as city structures and ships coming and taking off. Rest, was plain horrible.
If you look carefully, their suits/armor or whatever, looks like parts from a shower, the metal hoses and all. Also why the used that grey toned shade in the movie, so that the cheap props, wouldn't "show" that much all in all.
The acting was... awful. But I do not blame the people tbh, it is more about the director. Of course, some people are better than others, but even a "bad" actor, can be quite awesome with the right director and the right role.
And looking at this director, of what he has made and is making... well... I doubt he will be making anything good in time. If ever.
I am glad I did not watch the entire movie. I started jumping here and there, so the movie lasted maybe 45 minutes for me.

Hell, even the title says enough. Starship: Rising. Nah, not something I would advice people to watch. Oh, and there is one more coming... hurray...
