lack of empathy for isabel

i don't really consider myself a feminist or get embroiled in equal rights about women, but when i get in certain discussions and i see the lack of empathy for women, it makes my blood boil. for those of you asking if there was anything wrong with isabel, OF COURSE THERE WAS. SHE HAD TWO MISCARRIAGES. they'd mess with my head too! the oversimplifying of the situation of the movie is so frustrating!

Totally agree with you. I, too was wondering why this issue was not made the base for her behavior of keeping the child. She had two miscarriages and she was totally broken. The situation had opened totally that Lucy was not their child. But what i think about it is different. The pain of two miscarriages was so deep that they didn't bring it up.

Definitely, Isabel was a deeply-flawed character. Not only did the two miscarriages affect her state of mind and thus impacted upon her wanting to keep the baby. But the loss of her brothers was also a contributing factor towards her wanting to keep the baby. I really empathized with her ....
