Like a hallmark channel movie

Nothing in this is anything but a slightly elevated hallmark channel movie. I get so sad how women fall for this tripe year after year and white knight actors and directors want to score points with women so they do it. We really need to ask these questions as a culture. Why do women have such horrible *beep* taste in books and movies?

Wait, you think only women like the book and the movie? Why?

😒

I bet you have not read the book nor saw the film but anyway, you might have to be born again to understand our *beep* taste. Maybe you will return a better person.

"...It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing."

yes this is the definition of a chick flick

I'm an 28 year old 100kg male and I got super emotional while watching this film and BTW why you consider hallmark films being bad?

reply

Same here. 28/M, watched this on a transoceanic flight and at the end had to look around to make sure no one saw my eyes watering. lol

Not all women. Don't generalize, it's not intelligent. I got half way through then skimmed to the end to see how it turned out. It was just not well written. I may see the movie when it's on TV just for the scenery of the lighthouse island.

I didn't see Tom Shelborne's character as a stereotypical White Knight so much as a man suffering a severe moral conundrum and scrambling as fast as he can to do the right thing even while it threatens the foundation of his one pleasure in life: his marriage.
While he makes his best moral choice, he does so semi-dishonestly and, in the end, it is Hannah, when channeling the spirit of her forgiving husband, who makes the choice that saves the day for everyone.

It is the scenery of Janus Island, the lighthouse itself, that stupendous storm, the promising young love of an isolated couple, that stays with me.

The ending, or rather, the MULTIPLE Endings = a mess that stagger to a less than satisfactory finale.
