isn't the zoo just as bad?

Yeah it's just depressing. There are a few places that really do conservation for the animals. But you have to research them first. And it's also sad that zoos might be the last places that exotic animals are actually safe. Like, why can't people just leave them be? They belong in their natural habitats.

Their natural habitats will be almost entirely gone in the next twenty years. Unless this pandemic pans out.

I think the biggest difference is the animals in a zoo aren't usually forced to do anything they might not want to do, like perform, they for the most part just live there.

That's a good point, babz. And things are better now than they used to be. Zoos used to keep animals in cages, which was barbaric. Now most of them place them in habitats. Not as good as being free, but better than the old days.

I personally just don't like the idea of them being in there for our entertainment.

Neither am I.Unfortunately for people like us,I don't think the small amount of people who choose not to go to Zoo's,Sea World etc..will make a major difference because the majority of the public seem to have zero problem going to those places.I remember when this documentary was released and a lot of people seriously thought the majority of people would watch Blackfish(the trailer alone would break the heart of people who care about animals) and be overwhelmed with compassion,to the point that they will stop going to Sea World and Sea World would be shut down.Sea World is still in business,so that obviously didn't happen.

OMG yes I 100% agree, I think it's cruel beyond words and as another poster mentioned - why can't people just let them be. I found Blackfish so upsetting, seaworld and all like or are so wrong

We should shut down all the zoos eventually but only after we stop all illegal hunting acts. It will be pointless to release a tiger into jungle then only find out it is killed by a hunter...

All are bad for the poor helpless creatures. I only love National Parks. They are the best. There is nothing more satisfying than seeing an animal live in its natural habitat. Circus are equally bad. They beat them and don't feed them so that they can perform tricks to amuse some ignorant people.

You know what's worse than these things? The people behind it. The people who defend themselves like they are so innocent of what they are doing. People who act like keeping animals in cage or in captivity is good for them (Except pets[depends on owner]).
