budget film, Danny too old

Danny Trejo is 69 years old and kicks everyone's ass in this movie. He even gets in the cage and says: You know a good dentist? Opponent: Why? Danny Trejo: WHAM. That's why. It's not that bad but Danny Trejo is too old for the part. He reminds me of Chuck Bronson making mincemeat of all the bad guys. 4/10

Good to see that the movie industry doesn't consider any of them too old, I don't think Danny has ever been more productive than over the last couple of years. Nice to see Jonathan Banks picking up some roles post BB too.

Yes, they are. Whenever you see a 70 year old beating up a gang of pretty tough looking guys 40 years younger... well that means I probably think a younger person in that roll as super badass would be more appropriate. Danny would be great as a drug lord. Less believable as a hard guy cop who enjoys beating the crap out of everybody. On the other hand, there wasn't anything in "Bullet" that WAS believable lol

Yeah but Sly is in better shape than most people 40 years young than him,Danny does not look like he is in terrible shape either,as long as they keep making movies i will watch

That's cool, they could dig up Steve McQueen and star him in a movie and I'd watch it. It's entertainment! But I am the sort that likes a thread of truth thru the movie. So I get the "This could actually happen!" feeling, regardless of genre. So for example, "A 70 year old man beat the brains out of five men, ages 25-35 who usually hung out at the gym earlier today in Howell" just doesn't have my calling. That's the difference between "The Amazing Shrinking Man" and "The Wizard of OZ". One could happen; one couldn't.

I agree, mostly, but the Problem is: "Who"? Who can replace the box office super-stars that bring in the money? Ex-wrestlers and martial arts champions? 'Commando' was SO bad that even Arnie started to SERIOUSLY "meditate" and "visualize" himself acting like a fine "Actor" should, because even HE knew how terrible his acting skills were.

The best young (action) stars are yet to be found because Hollywood really isn't looking too hard. It's a lazy game of recycling and comfortable old shoes. Danny is like the Michael Cane of blood and death flicks. As they get to a certain age, they start taking every 'Ok' role that comes their way. I wish the hell we had the kinds of actors like Lee Marvin and James Coburn back in our midst. The mid and late 1970's had the best music and movies this planet will ever see. And until Hollywood starts showing lots of creative humility toward what they feel is 'Worthy' of their time, we are going to see mostly utter crap from that one-eyed monster...at best!~

True, transientdreams. I imagine a younger, believable actor could have starred in BULLET, and made it a better film - but then on the other hand, I probably wouldn't have watched it in that case. Danny Trejo was brought in because he was available and within their budget and would bring in more money than an unknown. They chose not to gamble and everyone knows if you don't take risks, you will never amount to much. So Bullet will forever be a turkey.

Are you familiar with Ray Park or Scott Adkins? They are not necessarily young but not old yet. Those guys are awesome

They are not necessarily young but they are not old either, but i think Ray Park and Scott Adkins can be big action stars in Hollywood if given a chance,i think Right Now Hollywood is trying to make Kellen Lutz into an action star, that is terrible Hollywood needs somebody like Ray or Scott

Kellen Lutz is dead to me.

I will never watch another one of his films that he stars in. I can't believe I wasted my time watching Arena. That movie could have been so much better with someone in the role who actually knew how to fight... like Ray Park or Scott Adkins.

I disagree. He is getting old, but he still kicks ass and I loved that bit of dialogue from the fight.

Notice, they even said something like "He looks kind of beat up" before that fight. And of course instead of giving the crowd their money's worth, he just destroys his opponent in one punch. That doesn't really help if you're trying to draw in bets for a subsequent fight.

And he's supposed to be old. He's a grandfather in the movie. How interesting would it have been if he just got the stuffing kicked out of him?

As far as how tough he is at 69, he would easily kick my ass when I was in my prime (not that that's saying much).

If you want to complain about the movie, complain about the fairly predictable plot and the re-use of many cliches that have been used time and time again in grade B movies.

And face it, when I first started seeing Trejo in movies and had no idea who he was, he looked pretty rough and beat up even back then. If I saw him in a sketchy neighborhood today (and didn't recognize him), I'd be a bit nervous.

Although IRL, I understand he's a really nice guy.

Another dissenter here. As I clicked on this thread I thought of Charles Bronson. I don't think any of these guys are "too old" and I find that older men are generally tougher and more "take no prisoners" in real life. It's really been in the last generation or two that the line between manly men has been blurred. I'm not saying there are no strong, durable men now. Just pointing out that John Wayne probably never would have received a manicure. ;-)

Sean Connery, Clint Eastwood and Charles Bronson were kicking ass when they were pretty old.

While Trejo is getting old in this universe two guys with hand guns managed to walk through a SWAT team so I dunno, maybe people are just a bit more fragile.
