Interesting, but very, very flawed show
This show is interesting, but I kept thinking throughout it, what about the people who would have to fund these projects? Taxpayers wouldn't pay for projects that don't really benefit them or their relatives personally. There would be a mass revolt. You'd need a lot of citizens to help build the nuts and bolts of these projects and I just don't think the motivation would be there. I don't even think many rich people would care about contributing because rich people aren't necessarily going to be the type of people who are picked to be the need 'seed race' so most of them would have no incentive to contribute to a project of this magnitude either. Most of these theories depend on people being unbelievably altruistic and we all know how that tends to go.
I think the most likely thing that will happen is the world will devolve into war. There will be many started but never finished projects and we'd just be destroyed. This show was unnecessarily optimistic about human nature. I know I personally would not care about contributing to humanity's survival if no one I know or care about will be likely to survive. I'm not sure why the show creators think most humans actually care about humanity's survival beyond their own lives and the lives of their loved ones. I think that was a huge leap.
