Finale

I like that it sometimes comes up early on On Demand. I liked the finale in a way (I don't like that it's the finale!) They do a really good job hitting emotional beats on this show.

All we get is drama and words as a stand in for emotion. These kids are so close, yet we NEVER see tears or anyone get choked up. This show was all tell, not show.

What do we want? More Asian actresses and actors. When do we want it? Yesterday!

I wish another network, or even Netflix would pick it up. They can change it quite a bit.

My idea would be to make it more like Full House, though it would probably never happen.

Topanga moves to London without her family. Katy dies. So, Shawn and Maya move in with Cory and the kids. Then they enlist Eric to move in to help with the kids.

There are quite a few problems with your revamped show.

Topanga leaving family for career is out of character. Not Topanga at all.
Will and Rider aren't really into acting anymore.

Will does have an extremely successful voice-over career and Rider is doing more behind the scenes stuff, but it's obvious how they care for their BMW/GMW family. They would always be willing to pop in if the schedule permits it, though you have to figure they would feel like them being on screen would somewhat overshadow what is happening sometines. Some characters, like Eric need to be used sparingly.

Yeah, i have liked their use of Eric, for the most part, on Girl Meets World. The beard and the outfit he wore when first introduced was dumb, but other then that, he has been fine. But yeah, if Eric was on this show all the time and acted like that all the time, this show would be unwatchable.

reply

No. They can't always have the easy way out. *beep* Maya and Riley and their obsessive relationship with each other.

They did a lot of crying in Girl Meets Sweet Sixteen. They didn't need to cry a lot here. The fact that they are discussing their emotions and somewhat coping/accepting is showing growth and making the audience feel the emotion kept right below the surface more. Folks will disagree with me here, but I do feel these kids are exvellent at the crying/anguish moments.

I thought they did a good job. Not too emotional, not over the top with the laughs, a good mix of both, pretty much the formula the show has succeeded with since the beginning.

I'm going to miss this show. I still think Wizards of Waverly Place was Disney's best show, but this is a close second.

The moral and life lessons applied to a young adult like myself watching just as much as the tween audience that was the show's main target. That speaks to how special GMW really was.
