Being on Disney Channel was a mistake.

The network is geared towards little kids, and little kids only. So they basically only do silly kids stuff and don't let their shows go on for too long. Even If they had allowed Girl Meets World to continue, they wouldn't have allowed it to mature like Boy Meets World did. Here's hoping they get picked up by a better network, or maybe Netflix.

I agree. A lot of people complain about the "preachiness" from week to week and think that was the main issue on GMW. I don't agree. BMW certainly had it's fair share of preachy episodes, but they were allowed to frame those plots in reality - characters were occasionally allowed to curse, parents were allowed to have big arguments with each other, the adults had real character development independently of the kids, they talked about alcohol and sex, couples were allowed to LOOK LIKE COUPLES. And there were no talking tater tots. Season 3 should have felt more grown up than season 2, and yet Lucas and Riley could barely even looked each other in the eye, and if it was anything like the original show, Zay and Maya would have been asked out or had some kind of interactions outside of the friend group during their freshman year.

GMW also made a caricature of Riley to the point of insanity. Cory was a normal kid for most of the show, and while he did get more eccentric with time, he still had his feet on the ground for the important stuff. They simultaneously wanted Riley to be taken seriously and also have the whimsical personality of a four-year-old. That was all Disney Channel, and it was often intolerable.

The problem is no one wanted to see the next generation. People wanted a Cory and Topanga focus and if it weren't for original fans, the show would have lasted only a season. 90s people lost interest.

So we're still going to have a million of these? Jesus H. Christ on a hockey stick. I can't wait for this place to be a ghost town but it that going to take forever now?
