I think the music, especially at the beginning, really dragged the movie down and gave it the made-for-TV feel others have described. Music is not something I notice all that often - but in this case it stuck out like a sore thumb.

This whole movie had that feeling. I felt at some points I was watching a cheese ball lifetime original.

The only person who made any sort of presence was michael shannon

The scene transitions also did that. As did Peter Fonda and his random inspirational quotes to his granddaughter that came out of absolutely nowhere.
"Grandpa, they have a kidnapped kid down there" YOU DONT GO AROUND SAYING THINGS LIKE THAT!
"Grandpa, they're going to do heart surgery on him" *points* follow your heart kid, follow your heart. *leaves room*
