SOLO HEART TRANSPLANT! ROFL

Don't get me wrong; I did like this movie despite myself, not to mention how much I admire Samantha Morton's work whenever I come across her.

But omg.

I like those surgery documentaries, and whenever I've seen transplants covered, there is what looks like a rugby team in scrubs, all of them specialists with specific roles to perform at specific points in time during the surgery.

Then again, none of those shows documented one patient and one disposable donor.

Just sayin', here. It was a doomed plan.

I thought that was a bit of a stretch too. It also brings to mind a few problems I had with the story. Maybe I missed it (wouldn't be the first time) but why did she need to care for their son at home in the first place and smuggle in drugs. She was a surgeon and I'm quite sure they would have had the best medical benefits available. Also, her son would have easily scooted to the top of the donor list. Too many things just didn't add up for me, like the whole kidnapping of the child who must have been around the same age as the son. How did they know he was going to need organs years ago? Other than those nitpicks, I liked the film and the performances.

I also had issues with those things. Like when they found out he was sick he must have been a baby. So instead of trying to do the normal thing they immediately kidnap another baby just in case theirs might need organs some day? Lol. And with the 13+ years they spent doing all of this creepy, illegal, backwards stuff, their kid could have BEEN on a donor list and maybe gotten what he needed. I guess the gamble was too much. They wanted a sure thing.

Boredom is bullsh#t.

I didn't see it as "just in case he needs organs," but rather that it was inevitable. They knew they could keep their kid alive for approximately X years without doing a heart transplant. But that he'd need one someday. And I guess they thought that kidnapping a baby from a hospital was easier than kidnapping an older kid.

lets not forget though that this woman is mentally insane so this sort of irrational behaviour is pretty much par for the course. For instance I could imagine her wanting to care for her child at home out of some obsessive, possessive mentality, refusing to let anyone near him. Subconsciously she probably didn't even want the child to get better anyway, it was better for her that the child remains permanently codependent.
