Hamilton disappointing?

He was to me.

I expected him to be dashing, charismatic, clever...instead he was...pudgy.

Hamilton was born in 1755 (or 1757), so in 1780 he would have only been 25 (or 23). To me he looked about like he should; kind of youthful.

Were some expecting Hamilton to break into rap/hip hop??? ;)

reply

I half-expected them Lin-Manuel Miranda to appear as a cameo.

Carl Grimes will one day rule the world!

reply

I was disappointed that he didn't have a bigger role.

Hamilton is ALWAYS disappointing.
Sadly we live in a Hamilton Country a LOT more then we live in a Jeffersonian Country...

reply

Huzzah!

reply

Yeah, well, I don't live in the US so I am untouched by the Hamilton craze.

And I really didn't care much about Hamilton. He had this one good line when he whispered in Ben's ear. But so far... not much to say about him.

I was FAR more excited to see Lafayette again... Brian Wiles is adorable!

Show-goers here in Chicago are paying as much as $8K a ticket. I am waiting for the movie, which they say may take 10 years, as successful as the show is.

reply

Ticket prices are insane!
A friend of mine entered the lottery ($10)and won, but you have to do it the same day of the show. Still I think I may try for that.
(But with 21 tickets, what's the odds?)

They are doing a movie? That is going to be very very tricky to pull off. Hopefully Miranda will be involved in every aspect of production and the creative process, to keep them from cocking it up.

Now that he is no longer in the show, prices for the New York production have gone down a lot. It's still expensive, but we are going to try to see it when we're there. I listen to the album a lot so I'm dying to see it live. My daughter is kind of obsessed with it.

reply

Not a movie, movie, but a film of the show. It was filmed in June and had all the original cast (even those that left came back for it). Miranda did it all, but they won't release until at least after the national tour.

reply

Oh, OK. Well if it's as good as the live performance they did at the Tonys, then I am all for it.

II went to see it about a month ago. Amazing! The new cast is great. Munoz who plays Hamilton now is just as good as LMM in my opinion, and even sort of looks and sounds like him (but without being an imitation).

I was lucky.

reply

I thought he was perfect. AND he knew that something was up almost immediately.

reply

Hamilton's resemblance is uncanny. Why would you think he was dashing?

reply

Perhaps because I want him to be dashing? 😉
