Basically it's another liberal left twist on Independence Day

Yeh yeh we must all work together... Chinese and Russians are bad guys, but they must also work with us to defeat the enemy. EXCEPT the aliens weren't that scary and the only thing the aliens really had to be afraid of was being served up in a Japanese restaurant as a dish of Kalimari. Science Fiction is pretty much hated and ignored by the luvvies responsible for the Academy Awards, and likely they won't take kindly on this effort.

Everyone working together = bad. Too bad an orangutan wasn't around to toss up a wall to keep out the aliens who teach us time travel n stuff, huh meathead?

reply

You are the meathead, if you considered this good science fiction or even a good film. This has straight to DVD written all over it, but Amy Adams is in it so it must be just wonderful and the best movie since Gone with the wind... That seems to be line of meathead's like you...

Funny you mention Independence Day. The director of that film, Roland Emmerich - have you ever seen what he has on the walls of his house?

Peace with former enemies is something desirable, no matter what end of the political spectrum you fall on. I'm a conservative libertarian. I didn't see this as politically preachy.

Btw, "calamari" is an Italian word, not Japanese.

I thought this post was going to be sarcasm and then I clicked...

I can't believe someone would actually make a post like this.

Let's just say that IMDb didn't regret shutting down these boards.

reply

Is this why they shut them down? Too many anti-liberal posts?

reply

Nope.. too many bullshit posts about politics, period. Some movies are political, but the ones that aren't still ended up getting political posts, threads, and rants up the wazoo.

I agree with the comments on why IMDB closed their message boards. It got toxic.

The Academy is full of snotty, stupid people. What did you expect when it came to them choosing what was worthy of their pointless little plastic statues? The majority of Hollyweird despises sci-fi because it makes people think, and many people in that sphere don't want to think or have their audiences thinking too much.

reply

You didn't actually watch the film did you? Rogue American soldiers attacked the aliens; kind of the opposite of working together.
