Profusion of Profanity

The more of the modern "horror" genre I get exposed to more disturbed I am about where we are going with all of this.

I think, for me, it started with the retake on the hills have eyes or somesuch, I read a review referring to the category of "torture porn" to which this film belongs, in the reviewers judgement.

I never heard that term before and it really made me reconsider how we are desensitizing ourselves to all dehumanizing imagery and ideas.

I vowed never to watch these types of movies again.
I failed, saw one or two (probably one of the SAW movies) stopped again, and then less so and less so (a couple times total), and now I think it has been quite some time since I saw anything of the kind.

Now seeing this exists (noticed on IMDB, have NOT watched it), DAMN.
What is wrong with people.

RAPE.
That is what this movie is about...its commission and consequences to the perps....but this is an expansion on a preexisting story....the only way the genre continues is if we keep RAPING....more violent more grotesque, until that too becomes "RAPE PORN"!!!

How far should we go with this ladies and gents ????

Perhaps we should do I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE 3, and rape a couple of children, and when people are finished being entertained by that, then in 4 maybe we should rape some dogs and cats, or we can blend genres and include a zombie outbreak infect a family in 5 where a family rape and cannibalize each other, or 6 in which a woman is raped by the child she gave up for adoption, who then gets raped in jail waiting for sentencing, then the child of this incestual rape becomes of age the father comes "home" from prison and proceeds to rape his daughter for an hour or so of the flick.....hey, that's entertainment!

There is a saying, some wise person once uttered, and it bears uttering now and again.

"Just because you can, doesn't mean you should"

Some kinds of films we just shouldn't do, not because of laws, but a sense of common decency, its bad enough we have made torture into entertainment, but now RAPE, should we have no limits???

I leave that an open question to you all!!!

are you Rolph Harris's Love Child?

I agree with you 100%. Not that I want to curb the freedom to express of any filmmaker but there are definitely some people, with less than 80 IQ, who would get wrong ideas from this.. But then again that will be the case with all the movies.. :P So I just hope that viewer can get mature enough to understand the correct message..

I'm the Dude,so that's what you call me.Or maybe His Dudeness,or Duder,or El Duderino.

how can you call this porn, you're as sick as those bulgarians in the movie
theres been alot of rape-revenge movies (even 30-40 years ago or more) so its not modern, and if you didnt get it, the best part is the revenge part where the sick *beep* get what they deserve
one of the best rape-revenge movies ive seen

I think you had some good ideas there. The zombie outbreak/family rape/cannibalism would actually be a great scene which I don't believe exists in film as of yet. Also, the adoption rape/jail rape/coming of age rape could be played out well as a story.

If those ideas suit, then you should take a look at "A Serbian Film", in which the first instance of newborn rape was shown in film. A freshly delivered baby was the unfortunate recipient, in a new genre of adult entertainment.

Still arguably one of the most effective portrayals of rape was by Monica Bellucci in "Irreversible". If you haven't seen it, I can't recommend it more highly.

Agreed, her actions were way over the top for just being raped multiple times, tortured, sold as a sex slave, and ultimately, albeit unsuccessfully, murdered. If they had keyed her car, or cut in front of her at the grocery store checkout, or worse yet, cut in front of her with eleven items in the ten items or less lane, then I could understand her actions.

And I agree that genital mutilacion, electrical torture, and drowning in raw sewage should be profanity free. I don't want to hear the word 'sh!t', even if she's drowning him in it.

I suggest you read the review of Irreversible by Roger Ebert. I also suggest you watch or listen to the Joe Bob Briggs commentary for I spit on your grave the original. It might give you an enhanced perspective on this issue.
There are 2 kinds of rape revenge films. 1 kind is simply trying to make a buck off of peoples desire to watch terrifying films. Remember people go to the movies to essentially feel something. Some like to laugh some like to brace themselves through action and others like to be scared.
The second kind are the good ones. I have no hesitation using the word art because many are exactly that. Rape is horrific and some directors want us to see and feel how ugly and awful rape really is. Irreversible , I spit, Deliverance, and Last House on the Left accomplish this. Others like Death Wish and The Hills Have Eyes are examples of good storytelling and film making.
We don't praise these characters as legends like we do the Godfather or Scarface. Or dole out Oscars to Schindler List. Why is that? Why is one "Honest" portrayal of violence accepted but another is not. Group-think ? Maybe. Misunderstanding? maybe some of that too.
There are always going to be exploiters in all types of films and I would rather sit through 3 or 4 bad films waiting for the next good one than have people make films that are always politically correct and watered down.

I suggest you read Roger Ebert's reviews of both the first I Spit on Your Grave and the 2010 remake. In short, he calls them the worst, most exploitative filth that has ever been made in cinematic history. This sequel to a remake is of course, more of the same s****

I forgot two thing I wanted to say. If you Read that review or listen to the audio commentary to the I spit by Joe Bob. I would love to hear your take on it so please get back to me on that one.
the other thing is unrelated to anything here. just a goofy thought but few people know that Alien in a sense is a rape revenge film. I think I herd it in the audio commentary or in a interview. The face huggers and impregnation. when the robot attempts to penetrate Ripley with the... /what was it? rolled up paper.
