Shaken my belief in the US

I watched in disbelief as the attacks on the WTC took place. I supported fully America in its response, to such an extent, that I took up employment with the British Military as a Security Officer.

America has a History of making bad judgments in conflicts, you only have to look at Vietnam to see that. They have the finesse of a dentist operating with a sledgehammer. What they seem to lack, is the ability to learn out of their failures. the same gung ho methods that led us to the My Lai massacre in Vietnam, are being carried out not only in Iraq or Afghanistan, but in Yemen, and any other Country they see fit to attack. I have friends serving in Afghanistan as I type this, I have lost friends in Afghanistan and Iraq, who I miss to this day. I believe radical Islam to be one of the biggest threats to true freedom on this Planet.

That does not excuse the methods being used. That does not excuse the killing of innocent People, and then blatantly lying about doing so, and covering up your own (American) ineptitude. If mistakes are made, and sadly, they are part of War, and will be made, then, full transparency MUST be made, we should show to the World that every effort is being made to ensure that this will not happen again.

Why are the people in Afghanistan supporting the Taliban again? do we believe the propaganda being presented that they enforce support, or do we look at a film like this, and see, that by the actions of the few, the deeds of the many are so undermined that we, the West, are seen as the greater of the two evils?

My friends served in Gulf Wars 1 and 2. I remember speaking to them after both Wars. The one comment that stuck with me, made 20 Years apart, was about were they afraid, both times I was answered yes, both times I was told "but only when the Americans were behind us"
