The reason this movie will not change anything

Did the majority of people care about wikileaks and all the shady business that is already out on the open? Did we do anything when Wallstreet Banks robbed the middle class blind? Was there outrage when the govt. lied about WMD's? NOTHING HAPPENED...and nothing will continue to happen. As long as we don't feel the suffering that wars brings into our own region, we will continue to turn a blind eye on the situation because it is not our people that we're blowing up. Most people are clueless of the current political situation, and just agree blindly with what the main stream media feeds them like "Snowden is a traitor," etc,. and will continue to support the status quo. Sorry to sound pessimistic. It's good to stay informed, but change? We live in a sad country with many stupid people.

reply

Your last sentence was the most honest thing I've read all day...

It may be wrong of them, but they value their lives.

reply

Snowden is a traitor, he got Americans killed.

reply

Because American lives more important.

Not the lives those the US government kills.

reply

My life and the life of my guys always came first. Rather be judged by twelve then carried by six. So yes American lives are 100 percent more important then those dirt farmers.

reply

WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA WHOA

bro, dirt farming is pretty profitable

reply

Hey, Jake: Shut the fk up, you military moron. It's people like you that help keep this country full of naive sheep and corrupt politicians.

reply

I really do hope that it bothers you my friend.

reply

Spoken like a true fascist.

reply

MY LIFE IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN YOURS and you do not know where the *beep* I LIVE!

reply

That, Jake, is exactly the problem... we (USA) believe that we are so much more important in the world than anyone else. Thank you for the honesty.

reply

Hearts and minds, eh Jake?

reply

'Then' and 'than' are completely different words and have completely different meanings.

reply

Egocentric much?

reply

Snowden is not a traitor, he gave up his lively hood for the benefit of the average US citizen. He is a *beep* hero. He has contributed more to this country than you could ever dream of doing. Please give us one example of how Snowden's leaks contributed to the death of one single American, and then think long and hard about how the wool has been pulled over your eyes.

Full disclosure: I thought the movie was a lame mess. Anyone should be able to see, however, that the only reason why these conflicts around the world exist in this day and age is because they are being fueled by a combination of ignorance, and politics so that a few people can make a lot of money.

reply

"they are being fueled by a combination of ignorance, and politics so that a few people can make a lot of money" and boredom. If the film made one contribution to the Peace discussion it is that people cannot bear the dullness of ordinary living.

P.S. This film isn't about Snowden at all. Hope imdb won't let you delete your spewing of adoration for Snowden once you read about his Rand Paul-ish early political leanings. Unlike Snowden, who now seems to think he should get amnesty (clemency isn't enough) and should be able to support himself on the lecture circuit in America, try to take full responsibility for the consequences of your actions.

reply

I was once told by a Muslim that WEAPONS and STUPIDITY ARE the very bad combination (obviously I meant the worst)... a combination so bad that can lead to the extinction of the planet, and along with it life (including the human species).

Now, you got two more ingredients:
A) MONEY
B) No conciousness
C) No regard for human life at all

And yes, the tree are two coz MONEY AND NO CONCIOUSNESS ARE IN ACTUAL TERMS THE SAME THING. These people exchange 1 USD for 1 human life! How sad is that? They even put a price tag of 1 USD into one US citizen!

reply

Snowden is not a traitor, he gave up his lively hood for the benefit of the average US citizen.

How lively was his hood, anyway? Was it like a bright pink colour or something?

He is a *beep* hero.

Yeah, I can't get over how he heroically fled the country to heroically sell state secrets to oppressive regimes. What a man!

reply

Exposing crimes does not make you a traitor. The US is spying on it's own people, that's not cool. Here in the UK they're doing the same. Society does not need it's own government spying on it, they work for us and we should not have to fear them.

reply

Obviously the very events that this film is about could not have come into being if one simple film could change everything. That doesn't mean it can't contribute to any change at all, and even if it cannot, it is worth trying.

Read this:

and then this:

http://digwithin.net/2014/01/01/snowden/

◾Max Levchin, a co-founder of Paypal, has openly stated his support for NSA spying on Americans.

◾Alex Karp used the Paypal framework to start Palantir, the most important company providing spying technology to the NSA.

And let me know what you think. I'd say Greenwald,Snowden, and Scahill are
psyop shills who are out to make some big profits.

If this doesn't bother you guy's then I must of entered the Twilight Zone.

reply

Nah u just crazy

reply

The reason it won't change anything is he doesn't have the credibility to deal with the subject, which is very obvious.

Last 3 films seen: Lone Survivor 7.5, The Terror Live 9.5, and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire 7

reply

The reason this movie will not change anything is what Jeremy Scahill said in the documentary about ordinary life being dull. He needed to get back into the war that never ends.

reply

Well, I've always been 'pro draft'. Not because I'm 'pro war', either. But it speaks to one of your points I find valid. Hang a few dead bodies on every American corner, and maybe people will think twice about sending people off to fight for a 'political ideal'.

Afghanistan wanted to harbor guys that killed us? Fine, go in guns ablazing. Spread 'freedom' or some other cockamame BS? Let people decide what 'freedom' means to them, and let them live it. We can't afford to save the universe.

Hell, half the people in this country are OK with our own dying because they can't afford to treat cancer. But? Let's fly halfway around the world, beat a concept into people that don't want any of it? Then build schools, and LMAO at the irony, hospitals? Please.

That said? Scahill's documentary is very heavy handed. I believe this stuff goes on. But I also don't blindly believe all the deaths are mistakes. And he is smug.

Glad I watched it, though.

reply

ricoo9, yes to everything you said. We suffered over a decade of Bloomberg catering to and bulking up the assets and accounts the elites and incompetent banks that we had to bail out in the first place! Rewards for giant ineptitude, get 'em here folks!

I think one of the major reasons is that the people feel powerless. The majority of the US opposes the war, for a variety of reasons. So what are we supposed to do to stop it? I told my senator to his face that the war has to stop, and he said he agreed, but that he is in the minority.
