Why are people on the board so hostile to this film...

... when actual hawks in the military and foreign policy community have praised it, despite their disagreement with Jeremy Scahill's views?

Robert Caruso, Daveed Gartenstein-Ross, Andrew Exum, Will McCants, Joshua Foust, etc. are all FP experts who cannot be characterized as part of the "left", but have all praised Scahill for his fact-checking and attentiveness to quoting people accurately. Scahill is considered to be a very popular national security reporter, and yet he's made out to be a conspiracy theorist.

Me thinks the people who are blasting this film suffer from guilt from having never served in any capacity, and are over-compensating it with boorish jingoism. I don't even think they watched his film.

Because there are many idiots here in the United States that just can't accept the fact that their government and military is not looking out for their best interests.

It's a terrible betrayal, the land of the free as unleashed it's kill squads around the planet. I think a big problem for Americans is about the pride they take in the fact they are American. A bit like supporting a football team, an insult to the team is like a personal taking a personal blow. In the UK it's more the opposite. It's the done thing to insult and criticise your country, so were happier to embrace any wrong doing due to this separation of individual and state. Me thinks one to many American good guy movies have been watched, and it's breaking some hearts when the realities are revealed.

I really think it should be said, that the global hatred isn't aimed at every single American. It's aimed at a few extremely unpleasant individuals who have got the keys. I feel sorry for a nation built on such noble principles, filled with people with such a natural enthusiasm for freedoms and liberty. That through an almost a tribal loyalty, have sleep walked into a tyrannical regime, who have very little regard for any human life, never mind regular Americans.

Because we live in a society that tells us that if you don't support the troops or if you question them and our government when it comes to the war on terror, then you're siding with the enemy. To then learn that the government is doing some pretty horrible things is a hard pill to swallow.

The hate on the other related posts is proof of how successful the official brainwashing is.
The documentary is superb and makes a real effort to show the humanity of the people on the other end of US and Western foreign policy. It seem that humanity itself offends many people posting here. Empathy has been action-movied and video gamed out of them !

I was very impressed with the "completeness" of it. Everything did seem verifiable and accurate. Glad to know that it has the approval of people who would know.

Get on the scale! Get off the scale.
