Westworld, my recommendation

Kurt and everyone else on this board should check HBOs show Westworld out if you're interested in a well thought out and beautifully crafted sci fi (seemingly) epic tv series. It stars numerous big names, Ed Harris and Anthony Hopkins amongst them and is about a scientist who has created a world where his artificially intelligent hosts can be used as amusement for the guests who pay. It's a brilliant look at where our technology is headed, and the ramifications that it could lead too.

The first season started in October, so it's still new but it's extremely exciting!

I'm deep into the new series, 'The Exorcist' 2016. Sleeping with a night light because of that.

Yeah, all my friends tell me Westworld is very good and I believe it. Just haven't had the time. I've also been watching the Fox comedy show, 'Lucifer', which is a little cheesy, but funny.

'The Exorcist' 2016

Me too, I'm actually surprised that's actually pretty decent. Didn't think they would manage to pull off the same type of scares the original Exorcist did.

'Lucifer'

Watched the first 3 episodes and dropped it. Not my kind of show, though my friend says that season 2's writing got much better.

reply

Oh my gawd, that's the argument I made on the Lucifer board. Season 2 is an improvement.

Westworld has been excellent. I was wary, being a big fan of the film but I'm pretty confident that it's surpassing it now.

reply

I havent seen the original, but I think the show is heading in a quite profound manner. I dont believe the original movie focused on the senteince of the hosts as much as this one did, and that to me is whats so captivating.

IT's certainly it's own entity, and is only really using the concept of the movie rather than any specific story elements. It's a great show, I'm enjoying how well paced it is especially.

reply

I am enjoying it, although (for this UK citizen at least) a supporting English actor - not Hopkins - is annoying and a distraction.

I'm well aware that railing does no good kurt2000

I'm trying to think who it could be to be honest, clearly hasn't caused me any problems!

I'm quite interested in seeing it but it's on Sky (I think), which I don't have, and I'm not really one for downloading things. Still haven't got around to seeing the original film either for that matter.

reply

Its on HBO, if you want to watch it week to week but i actually watch it online. Im not a fan of downloading but there sites that host tv series and movies, such a projectfreetv.com

Can be tough trying to get a video to play with all the pop ups, but it works and its always DVD quality. If not i highly recommend checking it out when season one is finished.

Going to wait until the next season of GOT is over. Then I'll reactivate my HBO Now and marathon both series....

Good call, you'll thoroughly enjoy Westworld. I find it to be a lot more fun of a watch then Game Of Thrones, since there's a lot to speculate and theorize about although i do love GoT.

I was about ready to give up on GOT until last season made the show interesting again (to me anyway). I also think the fact that I know they're concluding it makes me want to keep watching.

That being said, I've heard a lot of good things about Westworld, so I'll be sure to check it out....

I don't have HBO unfortunately.
