What do you think of Jeremy@Geeks&Gamers, Dicktor Van Doomcock, Nerdrotic.com ...

...and others who all despise Disney Star Wars and are bashing the new movie at every opportunity? Do you agree with them, or think they're wasting their time?

reply

I unsubscribed to Geeks and Gamers. He attacks SW fans and he thought it was OK for an SW actress to be attacked to the point of her becoming suicidal. I think he and the other vloggers are more about making money by exploiting political division, hate and inciting anger than about being a true SW fan. Politicized sites have more loyal followings (therefore more income) which is why they exploit it.

The other vloggers I don't know and if they're like him, I don't what to.

BTW, I know more positive SW vloggers who are a bit more positive and objective. I'll stick with them.

I hope SW9 is good but I doubt it will be since Disney:SW is more about making money than creating a quality movie. I prefer to be wrong, but after what they did to Luke and the EU, I doubt it. The Mandalorian and the video game look more promising.

The Fandom Menace ARE true Star Wars fans, because they're not putting up with the Disney shit, and nor am I.

reply

I don't like Disney SW either, but why attack SW fans and encourage sending death threats to actors? I actually like that Doomcock guy, though. He's funny and not malicious.

reply

I don't think Jeremy would've done that, and I think I saw his apology video about that. And anyway, no-one should be a fan of Disney Star Wars, and so he's attacking them.

reply

Yeah, he did. He was very casual about it too. Death threats and vile attacks against actors isn't acceptable. Attacking other SW fans to make money isn't either. At that point, I unsubscribed to him and a few others. I had enough of their toxicity.

There are SW fan vloggers who are positive and apolitical. They don't attack fans or actors. They discuss SW and give an honest opinion about it whether it's positive or negative and try to be fair. It's refreshing.

BTW, The Mandalorian TV show and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order video game both look good... so far. I'm cautiously optimistic about the both of them.

reply

Fandom Menace , they are just as bad as Lucasflim

reply

No, they're not.

Doomcock does 5+ hour youtoob rants wearing a Styrofoam mask! Google pays him for this!!!
Charlie Manson is more informative than this shit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4LwGTp9wleE

So? Each of these EXCELLENT YouTubers have their own eccentricities, and I love characters like that. DOWN WITH DISNEY STAR WARS!

reply

I agree with them in general: the new Star Wars is inferior and seems like the product of focus groups and misused analytics from social media. But Doomcock and nerdrotic get so damned dramatic and angry that it gets silly. Then in general I really get turned off when they get quasi political and their rants spill over into so-called “SJW/liberal media” etc etc blah blah blah, that’s where they’re getting in over their head.
I still give nerdrotic a fair chance but generally the idea that there’s an entire wing of YouTube that is trying to make a career out of making foaming at the mouth rants about Star Wars just seems silly.

reply

They are called The Fandom Menace, and by organizing the boycott of "Solo" they have done more for Star Wars fans than Disney ever will. Hail The Fandom Menace!

reply

I do not subscribe to them and when I do see their videos I watch and take what they say with a grain of salt. Of the 3 you mentioned, Nerdrotic.com is the only one that I think maintains some balance (or at least tries to). The other 2 are clearly aiming for going over the top. I agree with some of what they say and disagree with other stuff.

I actually hope they are not wasting their time though. I have very much disliked the new trilogy so far, and except for Rogue One have not like a single Disney Star Wars product. If some over the top vloggers can inspire enough consumers to take their money and spend it elsewhere perhaps in the future there will be a Star Wars product that I actually enjoy again.

I am not 'joining' them in their calls for boycotts. I am just not going to see these movies in theater, haven't been already since TFA. Maybe the product will shift to be more for me again in the future. If not, if it still makes money clearly it is a product that consumers want and I wish them all the best. It just do not like the product anymore.

WorldClassBullshitters is by far the best of the bunch when it comes to "The Fandom Menace".

reply

I really enjoyed his trips around toy shops to see how well the Disney Star Wars toys were selling, or rather not selling.

reply

Very true, I am surprised more vloggers and critics do not point this out. The toy sales are just so incredibly bad compared to even before TFA came out. At any given time in the last 35 years at least Start Wars toys would take up an entire shelf at any given store. Now at best they have to rows for Star Wars toys that are typically discounted over 50%.
