My idea for pt IX

My first attempt at fan-fiction so be gentle. As C3PO once said, I'm not much of a story teller.
I saw Snoke's death in TLJ as an opportunity. Anything better than digging up the Emperor.

Opening text : Ren’s failure to defeat the Rebels at (forgot where) has led many to question his leadership, while hope for the Rebellion has surged. After successfully trialing a cloaking device in a Star Destroyer, Ren has commissioned a new stealth dreadnaught in an attempt to control the Galaxy out of fear..

Part 1:
An imperial shipyard, with the dreadnaught under construction. Hux is onboard the existing Star Destroyer but knows he’ll never be in command of the one under construction. As his crew are being transferred under Kylo’s orders to the new destroyer, a team of engineers – actually Fin/Poe Rose etc + imperial defector have successfully infiltrated the site and sabotage everything enough to wreck progress. After they escape, a furious Ren attempts to force-choke Hux, but someone on Hux’s ship hits the hyperspace button and the stealth Star Destroyer and all onboard vanish into deep space.

In the aftermath:
Ren, knowing everyone is losing trust in him despite his powers, threatens to kill anybody who dares do anything without his orders first, then just storms off to who-knows where.
Leia, on hearing of the success of the raid, tells everyone that the tide has turned, expresses she has never given up on Ben and then simply dies of natural causes.
Rey: Lost without her mentor, force-reaches out to Kylo and simply asks to meet him, explain she knows his situation, come back from the Dark Side etc. etc. etc. Kylo agrees! Believing he can be saved, Rey simply leaves the Rebels behind but promises good things will happen.
Lando: Upon hearing of Leia’s passing, returns to the Rebels. As Lando is the general with the most leadership experience, he is appointed the new leader. Knowing the imperial fleet is weakened, he suggests now is the time to plan the offence.

Middle:

Ren/Kylo meet at a secret location unknown to anyone else. They agree to leave their light-sabers behind them. Kylo expresses regret etc as before. Rey suggests they trace his ancestry so he can finally find out everything about his father and what happened. Their story is effectively a nostalgia trip for SW fans, starting by meeting force-ghost Luke for guidance (and gratuitous force mumbo-jumbo etc. ) Luke raises his old X-wing from the waters, bids both Rey and Kylo/Ben best wishes in search of peace, and Rey (Luke’s X-wing) and Ben (Tie-fighter) head off to Naboo.

Lando has arrived with a team of technicians. The senior is an expert on Corellian ships as Lando wants the Falcon restored! Tech knows from Lando that C3PO is a protocol droid and announces he has an upgrade for him. Without asking first, Tech disables 3PO and replaces a circuit board in the back of his head (possibly giving him an interface thingy upgrade too like what R2D2 has to plug into other systems). 3PO is now badass! He keeps the same voice and stance but lost his prissiness in favour of authority. Plugging himself into the falcon he immediately starts rattling off a list of faults to the amusement of Lando and WTF expressions of everyone else Chewie/Poe/R2D2 etc). To prove a point, 3PO grabs an arc-welder, a welder’s mask and immediately gets to work. Restoration of the falcon is underway.

(doing this in chunks, daily posting limits)
The story now has 3 plotlines:

Rey/Kylo are totally alone in their journey through Ben’s history. They go pretty much everywhere that Vadar/Padme have been. Everywhere they go (especially the city on Naboo) is deserted, falling into ruin. However as they continue, they become less interested in Ben’s dark history, and more interested in each other. It is deliberately falling into a schmaltzy love-story. By the end, it’s totally Disney boy meets girl etc. etc. etc and as distant as possible as we can get from Star Wars as we know it.

Rebels/Imperial fleet:

Plot lines are similar. They are both without their respective Sith/Jedi leader. Imperial officers decide to disobey Kylo’s orders and, knowing the Rebels are gaining strength, issue orders to reassemble the fleet from anything they can lay their hands on. We see Tie-fighter assembly lines being over-stressed, we see blatant propaganda promising a new life etc broadcasts and recruitment drives (think of Han Solo signing up in his spin-off movie) it’s a totally military-driven campaign to as big a military force as possible.
Fin/Poe/etc do the same for the Rebels only more Mel-Gibson style (yay! Patriotism! Freedom! Fight for the children’s future blah blah). As the Rebels/Imperial plot lines continue, there is less distinction between the good-guys and bad-guys are; both behaving aggressively for a major war. In fact, it’s the polar opposite of Ben/Rey’s plotline (violent battle vs romantic wedding)

Hux
This is where the fun begins.
Hux is now in charge of the only stealth destroyer in the galaxy, staffed with only a skeleton crew. An officer claims to have pressed the hyperspace button in an act of loyalty to Hux, Hux immediately promotes him to #2 in command. But what next? Hux wants all his enemies dead (which is, pretty much everyone now) but how? Officer suggests they dig into Snoke’s past. Maybe Hux can learn the ways of the force?

reply

Driven by greed/power, Hux agrees. After digging through past transmissions and their sources, they arrive at Snokes’s temple. (Like Sith temple, only smaller). Hux and officer discover an abandoned exploration ship which is hauled back for analysis. Eventually the ships log is discovered and back on the ship, the officer presents his findings to Hux…
(possible in-joke here. The contents of the ship’s log is displayed on a monitor flat on a table, starting with friendly opening text on a black background. The audience’s viewpoint is from Hux’s, the perspective is comparable to the traditional opening text of all SW movies. Hux reads the text aloud, and instead of the text scrolling into the distance
The gist of the text is it’s a diary of a husband (H) and wife (W) team of archaeologists researching into the ways of the Force, the Sith and the Jedi.
Hux( VO) blah blah after several false starts I am feeling confident that blah blah (Hux’s finger comes into shot and he scrolls the text up manually touch-screen style) blah blah who wants to read this drivel anyway?
A bit more scrolling and the actual video diary begins. It’s filmed documentary style as it’s a video diary, so characters talk directly to the camera at times. Minature camera drones often wander into shot.
Deep space: a small ship appears at the bottom of the screen, we follow it as it pans down to a grey and morbid planet, atypical shot at the start of a SW movie.
H: I’ve got a good feeling about this
W: Never heard that before.
Camera zooms back revealing Husband (H) and Wife (W). Keeping a long story short, they have discovered the Sith temple and in celebration, nookie takes place on the temple’s altar (or whatever Sith have). Next morning, W wakes up to discover H floating in mid-air bathed in blue light. He’s being possessed! Disfigured! He sees her and clearly demented, starts jabbing at her (like a Force-user would do, except he has minimal force powers so nothing happens).

reply

I'm intrigued .. give me more

(If JJ is reading he'll be so pissed off he didnt think of that opening scroll on the computer gag lol)

reply

Ooh thanks ! I'm happy someone is reading my stuff. I'm limited by daily posting limits so it's coming in chunks.

reply

She escapes back to the ship and abandons him.
Years later, guess who? It’s a young Rey, who wants to know who her daddy is. Commanding her mother to find him (Jedi mind-control already at work), wife returns to the temple where she is killed by mutated H who is now Snoke. Snoke takes the ship and finally flees, setting up his own temple where his ship was discovered by Hux.

Back to Hux on board the destroyer, who is stunned by this. Officer informs him that wife deleted the location to the Sith temple just in case. Rey could be the next Sith lord, but doesn’t know it. But if word of this got out, everybody would want to kill her…

Rey/Ben are standing at the farm where Luke grew up. X-wing and Tie fighter landed side-by-side in the background.

Ben: No wonder my lot wanted to leave this place, it’s a dump.
Rey: Now you know how I feel.

Awkward pause.

Ben: I’m thirsty. Wanna drink?
Rey: Yeah, alright

Middle section ends with both the Rebels and Imperial having amassed a huge fleet from whatever they could lay their hands on and preparing for battle. Hux returns the imperial fleet cloaked, to deliver the news. Rey/Ben end up getting pissed like kids on their first high-school date in the Mos-Eisley cantina where Greedo’s scorch-marks are still on the wall (and the jazz band still playing, obviously). They are totally ignored by everyone else in the bar and there is no indication that anyone know who they are or of their true powers. They are planning a peace deal and end this destructive conflict for once and for all etc etc hey let’s rule as king and queen over the galaxy which means…
They head back to their starting point and agree to part, returning to their respective sides to deliver the good news in person, that the war will be over soon thanks to peaceful negotiations. Without thinking, they pick up their lightsabers where they left them and depart. End of nostalgia trip for the fans.

reply

Part 3: Royal rumble/smackdown/Star Wars showdown (this is what you wanted, wasn’t it?)

Ben/Rey deliver the news to the Imperials/Rebels respectively, which is met with WTF, but are reminded they are in charge so there. Everyone should assemble at Naboo (because why not?) to sign the peace deals. Hux, listening on radio, can’t believe his luck, as he can broadcast to everyone at once Rey’s dark history. The extent of both Imperial and Rebel fleets is finally revealed and it is HUGE (think every ship seen in SW so far). The Falcon is finally restored to factory condition, even repainted on the inside and looks AWESOME. Everyone is assembled on Naboo, eyes on Rey and Ben seated at a table in the palace’s throne room, senior officers nearby, half the landscape populated with Imperial troops, AT-ATs etc, the other half with Rebels forces. In orbit above them it’s the same. Hux’s destroyer is lurking in the distance, on board he and the rest of the crew are watching everything happening on the ground though high-powered cameras while the opposing fleets in view through the bridge windows. There is a hush as Rey and Ben pick up the quills and are poised to sign and …

Tension…

Hux: Ready to broadcast the good news?

On the planet, everyone flips at once. Laser bolts fly everywhere; there is no idea of who shoots first, within seconds there are bodies everywhere. Rey/Kylo hammering at it with their lightsabers. This triggers everyone else on the battlefield and then everyone in space above.

Commanding officers (all of them) Let’s end this: Attack!

reply

Complete war. There is no glamour or music, it’s all out. Lando/Chewie, Tech and Finn are onboard the Falcon which takes the most damage. R2D2 and C3PO are on board trying to put out fires as soon as they start but the Falcon can’t handle it and is finally shot down, skidding to a halt on a hill overlooking the battlefield. It’s pretty obvious that it’s FUBAR, and Lando orders everyone out. C3PO deliberately hangs back as if remembering something (obviously drag the fight scenes out as long as possible as this is the last movie).

There is no clear sign which side has the upper-hand. We leave Armageddon with mournful music accompanying a long tracking shot from a camera looking down on the battle field, up into orbit, through the battle there finally panning round into deep space and nothing music ends and keep tracking until the interior of Hux’s destroyer suddenly fills the screen, revealing the bridge. The bridge is now decked out like a cinema auditorium with Hux and crew, complete with drinks and snacks, enjoying the show on huge holo-screens like a good popcorn movie.

Hux, watching his enemies obliterate each other: “This is simply the best thing ever…”

Back on the surface a ground based rebel ion cannon (like from ESB) fire a shot at a destroyer in orbit above. It misses! And flies into deep space. Back on the bridge, Hux decides to give a speech to his crew in their moment of victory, except delivered like a drunk best man at a friend’s wedding. With everyone on board distracted, nobody notices the stray shot heading right for them. Direct hit! Oops stealth capabilities compromised…

Ion cannon gunner: Hey we hit something!
Commander: Who?
Gunner’s PoV : a star destroyer phasing in and out of view
Gunner: Hux…

reply

Am liking that the Falcon gets overhauled back to its 'Solo' state.. and how it ends in a huge 'star war' to end all 'star wars' (TROS attempted that but it didn't really deliver) .. as Hux watches it on a cinema scene (man JJ and Rian Johnson would've loved all this 'meta' stuff)

reply

Thx! Stay tuned, next part next week.

In space, events on both Imperial and Rebel flagships play out identically:
Officer (to commander) We’ve spotted something, you’d better take a look at this
Commander: On screen.

Hux’s destroyer is in plain view. On board, everyone is now panicking because they have been spotted. Engines are malfunctioning sparks flying, consoles on fire. They can’t escape.

Imperial and Rebel officers: Hux. I hate him. Let’s blast him.
Gunner: Hux. I hate him. Charging to max power.

On Hux’s destroyer, everyone is scrambling to get systems back on line. Hux demands the ion cannon to be targeted and destroyed but it’s too late. Over communications they hear broadcasts from everyone that he’s been spotted. Suddenly both sides are unified in their hated of Hux, breaking off attacking each other and now Hux has the combined forces of the Imperials and Rebels charging down on him! The ion cannon is about to fire again but Hux’s shot destroys it in the most spectacular explosion of ionization ever. Lando/Chewie and the rest of the crew are sitting on the ground in front of the Falcon, smoking gently in the background, watching helplessly as the battle plays out in front of them. They get a perfect view of the explosion as ionized particles are sprayed everywhere, taking everyone by surprise and… *drum roll* _completely fuses every single electric device on the battlefield._ Stormtroopers and rebel soldiers are waving useless guns at each other; Rey and Kylo, obsessed with killing each other twirl like idiots for a moment not realizing their lightsabers aren’t working. Every single engine stops, every single blaster stops. Total silence, then just as they realize what’s happened speeders and other vehicles caught in the blast start crashing to the floor and the sounds of battle are replaced with the sounds of crashes and panic as everyone dives for cover.

reply

Kylo and Rey suddenly realise they are the only people who can calm this down and use their force powers to gently lower falling speeder-bikes, X-wings etc. to the ground. Within seconds it’s over, As silence envelopes the battle field, soldiers on both sides start peeping out from the cover with an extreme WTF just happened expressions. Then a lone voice shouts out, ‘Can someone get me out of here’?

The battle is over. There are no opposing sides. Imperial and Rebel soldiers throw their weapons away together and start hauling each other out of crashed ships. Storm trooper helmets are removed revealing a mix of ageing clones and ordinary humans.

Lando/Chewie the droids and the rest of the Falcon’s crew watch everything from afar. Realising the battle is over, they set off to help. Bad news: C3PO got caught in the ion blast and is toast. He may be a droid but he helped rebuild the Falcon to its former glory and there’s a moments silence for their fallen comrade. Chewie notices something in C3PO’s hand – it’s the pair of dice from the Falcon’s cockpit, first seen back in ANH. Chewie takes them and places them in a pouch (which if you remember, still contains the original chip from C3PO before the tech replaced it. What happens to it is left to the imagination of the viewer).

reply

(possible hero moment for R2D2 as he has the only functional transmitter left. He’s also short enough to have the blast simply go over him. He broadcasts an SOS upwards in the hope that someone receives it, otherwise…)

Back in space, the sudden silence from the planet’s surface is noticed by both commanders, again in identical fashion they realize something is wrong and order a U-turn, to the amazement of Hux who thinks he’s about to get vapourized. He’s not out of trouble yet as the Destroyer is malfunctioning like crazy with crew bashing away getting systems back on line. Extra fun, the anti-grav system is offline, as the ship rolls inverted the whole bridge, party hats, snacks beers etc fly everywhere adding to the chaos. Hux is left danging by an arm holding on to a seat, he slips, falling onto the huge windows of the bridge, breaking a leg to add to his misery.

A helpful-voice: Stealth systems back online!

Not that it helps. The Star Destroyer is adrift, unresponsive and guess where it’s heading…

Everyone else has now come to their senses. Ships from both fleets land on the battlefield to help in the aftermath. Stranded AT-AT pilots are rescued by e.g. Poe giving them a lift on his X-wing. The main characters assemble together (Poe,Finn, Rey, Ben Imperial Officers, Lando etc) there’s an awkward ‘sorry about trying to kill you just now) and someone (no idea from who side, suggestions?) reminds them that there’s supposed to be a peace deal going on.

reply

Cue end music! Happy impromptu celebrations! Sequence aka end of RoTJ except _everyone_ is united and dancing together! Rey and Ben hug! Disney Ending who could want for more? (this sequence has to go on for quite to give time for…)

Battlefield: Sun, peace. Like the first day of Spring (bar the wreckage). Camera pans around a view of what would be any Star Wars collector’s biggest wet dream of characters and ships. Everyone is transfixed by Rey and Ben’s vision of living together and their future plans of everyone in the galaxy living in peace. The camera settles down with them in both view against a clear blue sky.

Elephant in the room: Back on the Destroyer and Hux has a perfect view of where they’re going to crash. It’s the battlefield.

Helpful voice: Auxillery engines online! But we must divert power!

Hux: Do it!!

Behind Rey and Ben, the Star Destroyer suddenly appears in view and it is FUCKING HUGE totally blocking out the sun and plunging everywhere into shadow. No point running, you won’t escape.
Rey (looking helpless) Big….
Ben: Judging it by its size? He raises an arm at it. Force lift! After all, nothing else to try. Rey holds an arm up too towards the destroyer. They are in a trance. Everyone is transfixed as the enormous ship passes at head-height, knocking over countless ground and space vehicles in its way. Chewie ducks to avoid being hit. It’s going to be close…

Hux and everyone on the bridge look down as they get a perfect view of what’s happening below. They witness the aftermath of the battle, that both sides are together, and that both Ben and Rey are using force powers in an attempt to stop them crashing. And finally it passes, skimming barely a few feet above the planet’s surface. Back on the bridge, all the lights finally splutter and die. Crunching noises as the ship begins a long slide to a halt on the ground. Awkward moment as no-one is breathing.

Hux: Did we save them?

reply

Ending with something akin to the Force Unleashed bringing down a star destroyer (reversed) is inspired.. and would bring about conflicted emotions from JJ: envy, anger and regret of not thinking of that

reply

Ben/Rey come out of their trance as the Destroyer receeds into the distance. Together: Did we save them?

Hux: We saved them!

Everyone on the battlefield breaths again. Ben/Rey We saved them!

Sighs of relief all round. It’s finally over.

Ext: shot: The Destroyer slowly skidding to a halt on the planets surface heading directly towards the camera. Camera tracks down, revealing the smoking remains of the Falcon in the foreground directly in its path. Crunch.

Fade to black.

Metallic banging noises. Reveal to a close-up on a hatch on the Destroyer’s hull. It opens, a hand waves out.

Hux (feebly): Don’t shoot!

Chewie hauls him out and he is *pissed* and screams at Hux full blast. Hux is a complete train-wreck after the chaos in the bridge earlier. Chewie drops him unceremoniously and Hux screams. Broken leg. Hux cowers on the floor, looking around at *all* the main characters from both sides, he is completely surrounded; expecting to be torn to pieces at any second. But nothing happens.

Rey: You stopped the War.
Ben: The War is over. We would all be dead by now if it wasn’t for you.

Hux has lost the plot. He’s been branded the unlikely savior for ending what should have been Armageddon. Medics rush to attend to his broken leg. Ariel shot of him being patched up, centre of the screen, on the Star Destroyer, now swarming with imperial and rebel troops, continue tracking up revealing the full extent of the battlefield; pan-up into deep space and stars. Fin.

Post credits scene:
Deep space aka the beginning of all SW movies. We pan down revealing a black planet, and a small ship flies into view towards it. A sequence of scenes show its descent and as we get closer to landing, we see the planet is Coruscant, now deserted and lifeless. The ship lands on a regular landing pad and a cloaked figure steps out, enters a building via an automatic door, down a corridor to a door which opens to reveal…
A boardroom. Similarly dressed figures are sitting around a round table. Immediately obvious is the senior officer from the Imperial Fleet, the mole who helped Finn/Poe lead the initial raid on the shipyard and Lando’s mechanic who helped patch up the Falcon. The pilot removes his hood to reveal he is Hux’s second in command. He speaks:

Stealth, surely the greatest of all Force powers.
Mechanic (gesturing to a row of books on a shelf behind him) Master Yoda was wise to keep that to the texts.

They are the Knights of Ren. As Hux’s officer takes his place at the table the conversation begins which reveals:
-Their original plan was to have both Imperials and Rebels to build up as biggest fleet as possible, thereby they can completely annihilate each other . This most definitely includes Ben and Rey.
-With everyone dead, Hux will be left in charge of the Galaxy with a clean slate to work on, Except he will have his strings pulled by the Knights behind the scenes.
-The plan went wrong of course. This leaves a dilemma:
The Galaxy is at peace. This is ultimately good.
The Knights are NOT in charge. This is not their plan.
Ben and Rey are still alive. If they have kids, they will be descendants of both Sith and Skywalker lineage, Yowza.
The Knights want to be the only Force users in the Galaxy. Any other Force-sensitive people light side or dark side, would be a threat and must be killed.
Hux’s officer declares the location of the Sith temple is unknown. The rest of the Knights take his word for it and move on. Fin (for good)
