Incompetent Kiri Hart "Leaves" Lucasfilm Story Group

...the shockingly unqualified Lucasfilm Story Group, that is. Great news!

That sounds like a promotion. Anyway, you're not going to get better SW movies with Disney as the owner.

reply

It's meant to sound like a promotion to fool the easily tricked and not cause a firestorm of bad publicity. It worked judging by your reaction.

reply

Yeah sometimes a 'sideways' move looks like a promotion when it isn't.

Wishful thinking by the same people who said Kathleen Kennedy was going to be fired by September 2018 and Rian Johnson was not going to make a new trilogy which is still planned.

Meanwhile, Kiri Hart helps head-up a company's new division which will be creating cable TV shows while still working with Disney. The company is behind hits like “House of Cards” and “Ozark,” and films like “Ted” and “Baby Driver”.

It still sounds like an opportunity and bigger paycheck to me. And she gets to have warm fuzzy feelings while she helps the next generation of creatives succeed in the TV industry.

Despite the fans, Disney considers them all successful since they brought in billions of dollars. That'$ all Di$ney care$ about.

reply

I agree with everything except Rian Johnson getting his trilogy. I know Rian assured people about a year ago that the trilogy was still being planned, but I've heard nothing else. Has there been any news?

reply

Updates popped-up as recently as a few days ago. It says trilogy is years away, but Johnson says he's making it.

""No it isn’t true, I’m still working on the trilogy. With all due respect to the movie bros, who I’m sure are lovely kind bros with good fraternal intentions," he said in response to an article claiming he'd stepped away from the trilogy."

I tend to believe Disney will fire him too especially if Episode 9 bombs. We'll see.

reply

It's still more of the same with Rian claiming "it's totally happening you guys" but giving few details. Rian strikes me as the sort of guy who would get dumped by a girlfriend for being too needy, then turn around and tell everyone he dumped her because he doesn't want to be tied down.

As Disney or Lucasfilm said anything? They seem kind of silent. I get the feeling they are quietly distancing themselves from it while protecting their PR. After all, they have a habit of firing their directors.

Solo lost money

reply

True. I forgot about that dog since I boycotted it.

reply

But you see my point...right? Boycotts...the fandom menace...course correction...two film in a row with hardly any marketing...and the first bomb of the franchise. None of that spells solidarity amongst the fans (customers) or confidence in the art (product.)

reply

Of course. But, one bomb vs. three hits for Disney. Nice odds for them. Plus a new paid Disney channel, SW park and SW TV shows for more money.

Disney doesn't care about art. Just profit. They're betting the fans will return for more SW. I've talked to diehard fans and all is forgiven with them. They're on board for the next film and SW projects.

There's the possibility that other fans will cave and join the stamped to spend money for more SW even if it's crap.

reply

All is NOT forgiven with Star Wars fans. Check out Comicartistprosecrets and GeeksandGamers on Youtube.

reply

Even more forgiving fans like Mike zeroh..den of nerds...thor Skywalker and even Christian harloff at collided are scathing in their critique of the current direction of the franchise. I do believe celebration will be an excellent barometer for the fan disconnect and the void that exists in the fandom. Then will be views of the upcoming trailer. Both sequel saga trailers have broken records on view counts. It will be interesting as well as telling to see if nine can continue the trend. Finally...ticket presales will establish the degree of trouble the franchise is in. It will be this info that will.birth the first data driven speculation as to the film's BO success.

I would also suggest going to fan sites like theforce.net or starwarsnewsnet.com and check.out the forums. Specifically the threads for love/hate. Although attempting to kill negativity...even their harsh anti hate policies are unable to change the fact that the posts for detractors out number favorable at a rate of 5 to one on the thin side. On the heavy end...10 to one😲and

I think we can agree that it will be interesting to watch it play out👍
