Pointless whinging from JJ. Find me a Star Wars fan who doesn't love Leia?

It's not that people are "threatened" by Rey, she's just obnoxiously written and overpowered. At least Luke had a good reason for his Jedi powers (inherited from his father, had some training) and his pilot skills (inherited, and the dialogue suggested he flies for fun). He didn't just pick up everything he turned his hand to with no setup.

I'm not sure I know anyone that is 'threatened' by rey .... except maybe kylo ren XD

reply

Oh well guess I won't watch it then. Thanks for the heads up JJ

He's starting to sound a lot like Paul Feig when he filmed the pointless remake of Ghostbusters, and turned it into a politically divisive "if you don't like it then you hate women" movie.

If you didn't like TLJ, then you are threatened by women? Seriously, what the hell goes through these people's minds when they say things like this?

People aren't allowed to dislike the new Star Wars movies?

Well, despite being on this message board, I honestly have no desire to see the next film in this trilogy. They've killed everyone I cared to see, and they barely allowed anyone from the original cast to film any scenes together. They dropped the ball with this new trilogy in every way imaginable for anyone who cared about Star Wars.

I'm a casual fan, so the new movies were entertaining, but damn did they ruin Luke Skywalker, and the fact that the original cast members barely had any screen time together is unforgivable.

...and sorry JJ, but yeah, Rey sucks and I don't care about her character at all. I'm sure she'll come out on top fairly easily in the new movie. She can do no wrong.

Maybe I'll rent this one the year after it's released.

It's such a pathetic reverse psychology move "If you hate this movie, then you're threatened by women if you like the movie or even go as far as loving the movie then you are a real man and secure in your masculinity"

They just don't want to admit Rian Johnson fucked up and they let him lol. If JJ had an outline for episode 8/9 why the hell would he let someone change it so drastically? They literally shot themselves in both feet before putting their runners on for the race.

I noticed a trend like this with racism as well. That minorities, mainly blacks, can't be racist and that there is no such thing as reverse-racism in the liberal world. Only whites can do harm and even white apologists agree to that as well but go omg why they hate all white people cause I'm white and I'm an apologist.

Kind of an example of what I am talking about.

Leia is a woman. Last I checked, we all liked her.

You know why we love Leia, JJ? Because she is a GREAT and BELIEVABLE female character who wasn't conceived to push a pro-female agenda and doesn't have unrealistic traits to provide a false sense of "female strength". She's an entirely organic character who is GROUNDED and REALISTIC.

That's why we like her.

PS: Fck you, JJ and Fck Kathleen Kennedy as well.

reply

That, and she was the only woman in the galaxy in the original trilogy.

I agree, well I mean aside from:

Aunt Beru
Mon Mothma
Sy Snootles
Oola
The copious amounts of women in Cloud City ...
Female Rebel support staff in Echo Base
Yarna d'al' Gargan
Twins in the Cantina on Mos Eisley
Female Ewoks
Women in Jabba's lair
Female Rebel pilots in the battle of Endor

Yeah, she is the only one.

If you bothered to checked out the link, you'd see I was clearly making a joke. But hey, at least listing those names gave you something to do right?

reply

YA!

I watch family guy ...

Sorry you got upset.

reply

If I was upset, I’d have been gnashing my teeth and typing in all caps. NOW STOP TEASING ME!!! Gee whiz, mister. You don’t wanna go and get me all sore at you. The last wiseacre who done that...well, he puts on his pants with both hands now.

reply

lol fair enough.

reply

Well, she is the only one who actually has significant screen time and a decent amount of lines. Aunt Beru and Mon Mothma are awesome, but MM appears in one scene, gives one 60-second speech and never speaks again. Aunt Beru appears in one scene (not counting the one with her burned out corpse), has about three lines and never speaks again.

However, if Abrams thinks the only reason not to like these newer movies is because a person hates women, he's high on something. Sometimes, it's possible to hate a movie just because it's a horrible movie.

reply

Thanks for the heads up!

I can't believe JJ is going to be fighting to produce The Joel McHale Show with Joel McHale now.

reply

Oh, I should say it's on Netflix *Hummmmm!*

reply

He's right about Star Wars not being the film franchise for you if you are threatened by strong female characters. George Lucas was the progenitor. Leia talked down to Vader, Tarkin, Chewy, Han, and called Luke short albeit in Stormtrooper form. She didn't take shit from anyone, and ended up killing Jabba with her own chain.

But if he actually thinks that's the only reason to dislike The Last Jedi, he's an idiot.
