A decent movie

Just saw it. I must say it was actually not bad. Saw and read most of the negative and apocalyptic stuff about it. But it kinda works on a nostalgic and emotional level. Most of the criticism is silly nitpicking, eg Chewie surviving (it's set up, you can clearly see two spaceships in the beginning).
This must be almost sacrilegious but I liked Rey in this. I'd even say she's kinda hot. Many good moments. Bringing back Palpatine didn't bother me; the acting was ok.
Now you can stone me.

i agree with you

How did Palpatine survive being blown-up in outer space?

Was that a Han ghost or Kylo's memory? In other words, who forgave Kylo for killing his father?

Why does Rey want to be a moisture farmer and what are her skill sets? And how come the homestead is in good condition after being set on fire and abandoned for decades?

Who will train force sensitive people to become Jedi?

How do we know Palpatine is really dead this time?

Why did Disney hire the same writer who scripted Superman vs Batman and Justice League - two bad movies?

"How did Palpatine survive being blown-up in outer space?"
He fell a long way, used the force to slow his fall then his minions grabbed him before he died and shuttled him away. They created a mechanical body to keep him alive.

"Was that a Han ghost or Kylo's memory? In other words, who forgave Kylo for killing his father?"
It was his memory

"Why does Rey want to be a moisture farmer and what are her skill sets? And how come the homestead is in good condition after being set on fire and abandoned for decades?"
Rey dosnt want to be a moisture farmer she went there to bury Luke and Liehs sabers together where it all started. She has no intention of staying there.

"Who will train force sensitive people to become Jedi?"
Rey will with the books she has. She will start a new Jedi order.

"How do we know Palpatine is really dead this time?"
He was disintegrated but he may have a clone

"Why did Disney hire the same writer who scripted Superman vs Batman and Justice League - two bad movies?"
Ask Disney as this is not explained in the movie, script, story boards or other Star Wars material. Also both those movies sucked ass.

Barely buried lightsabers. Now poor unsuspecting Jawa children will find them and mutilate themselves. The lightsabers belonged in a museum.

Scavenger Jawas left the unattended Skywalker farm alone for decades. Really?

How would Palpatine's flunkies know he was going to be thrown down the reactor? Were they waiting for him at the bottom of it? Every man for himself atmosphere as we saw nobody helping Vader, but flunkies waiting patiently at bottom of reactor.

Rule of two math doesn't add up. Palpatine was master. Snoke was apprentice. Kylo another apprentice?

So now it's OK to kill because a murderer can imagine the victim forgiving them?

If Anakin was created by Palpatine then doesn't that make Kylo and Rey related?

You obviously put more thought in your answers than the hacks put in writing this crap.

They already telegraphed that: 'No one's ever really gone.'.

So, nobody is dead, and even if they are, their consciousness continues to live, and they have unlimited power in the real world.

reply

That is pure garbage.

reply

That's the movie, and I agree with you from a story standpoint, it's garbage

reply

Yes yes, not what you said is garbage, what Disney did is garbage.

reply

Phew!!

:o)

As mentioned. You can nitpick these movies ad infinitum. Does Palpatine's resurrection make sense? Hell no. But for me the film worked as a entertaining joy ride. I connected with the characters. Don't ask me why, but it worked.

I don't get how you could like a movie that has so many plotholes and unexplained events/abilities. I bet if Rey just wiped a whole fleet of star destroyers with just her mind or lightsaber throw where she extends it to thousands of km you'd accept that as well.

reply

What helps the film is the low expectations you have walking in.

With all it's flaws included, I think this is the best film of the new trilogy. In this one I started to like Rey a little bit. I like all the moody close-ups JJ used. If this had been the first film of the new trilogy I might have been excited, because the biggest problem by far has been the blandness of the new characters.

They should have made Luke Skywalker, along with Han Solo, the main characters of the new trilogy, not Rey, Finn and Poe.

reply

I find your lack of taste disturbing.

reply

Nice cliche, only topped by the infamous "George Lucas raped my childhood" line from the early 2000's.

reply

I agree. Its not great but Its decent. I liked it better than the other 2.
