So could Rey being the granddaughter of palpatine give her a pass on the whole Mary Sue thing? Could palpatine have been helping her in some way? Maybe the palpatine midichlorian genetics (combined with the mystery female impregnated) are even higher than the skywalkers?

It was a political move of Kylo to say that they were nobodies as Palpatine probably repeatedly said that his son and daughter were 'dead to him'.
