So big chance this might be worst movie ever

It is not exaggerate, this could actually be very very awful movie. Could be bad story, bad characters, bad humour, bad coincidences, more old characters ruined...prequels were bad but even they did not ruin palpatine (he was best part)
But this movie might do all this, and will cost so much.

Hopefully music is good

reply

The magic dagger is confirmed...the leaks are true!

reply

the leaks are fake, dude.

reply

Prove it. Jar Jar acknowledged the Phandom Menace. Hollywood elite do not acknowledge the plebs like this...ever.

reply

there is no way the leaks are true.

reply

Except it looks like they are. See dagger above. If one is true then the others may be true also.

reply

if you think the leaks are true. then you are not a true fan of star wars.

reply

How do you work that out.

So 1 rumour has turned out to be true. Perhaps others will to.

How does that determine what type of fan i am. Very stramge comment indeed.

I'm a fan of Star Wars, not Disney Star Wars.

They are completely seperate entities. One is exceptional, the other is an abomination.

reply

Anybody that counts the prequels and sequels and anything other than the original trilogy as part of the story can be considered not a true fan too

reply

But the prequels are.

reply

Correct. Anyone who hates the prequels is not a true fan of the whole original story line. Good or bad, the prequels are an essential part of it. The Disney trilogy is not.

reply

Or, it could actually be an amazing movie!

reply

The movie could be a lot of things, but in view of the last two, you have a general trend that would require this film 'subvert expectations'.

reply

Nope! Loved the last two, so I have no reason to think I won't love this one :-)

reply

You alone do not define the box office trend.

reply

Oh, silly me. Do you, alone, define box office trends?

reply

Or, it could actually be an amazing movie!

You're correct, I misread your original statement above.

I probably should have assumed you were speaking from your own perspective when you said 'amazing' as being a movie with lots of pretty shiny things and loud booms, and not taken for granted that you were defining 'amazing' as an intelligently written movie with internal consistency, a gripping story & characters, executed to perfection.

reply

Exactly, I do think this movie is going to be, "an intelligently written movie with internal consistency, a gripping story & characters, executed to perfection." You don't have to agree, but telling me that I "alone do not define the box office trend," really makes no sense.

reply

You're really having a bit of trouble here with reading comprehension on our sub-thread, but I'm too lazy to explain it.

Regardless, I'm happy if you're happy spending money on what in all probability will be an amazingly shitty movie.

reply

Actually, I comprehend what you said just fine. I was subtly pointing out the idiocy of your statements. You were saying it's not possible for me to think highly of the 3rd film in a trilogy simply because the 2nd one did not make as much money at the box office as the 1st. I was nicely explaining to you that I liked a movie. Whether or not it sets records at the box office is irrelevant to my enjoyment or opinion of the movie.

I think it's very sad that you allow box office trends to determine whether or not a movie is good rather than watching the movie and deciding for yourself.

reply

*sigh*

You are neither subtle, nor are you not an idiot.

Your initial comment was apparently, unbeknownst to me, based upon your your personal love for two ill conceived and poorly constructed plot-holes of movies, expressed and generically phrased as 'Or, it could actually be an amazing movie!', and carried the initial implication of Episode IX as possibly being considered objectively good.

I noted that your use of the word 'could' could, in fact, mean anything and nothing at all.

Then you proceeded with, 'Nope! Loved the last two, so I have no reason to think I won't love this one :-)', thereby implying that because you thought it was super, it was objectively 'super'.

Hence, my reminder that, 'One retard does not a short-bus make.' with my comment referring to your attendance, and that your opinion on a given movie does not, in fact, make the movie 'good' in any objective sense of the word.

Then you responded, then I responded, etc.

*yawn*

In conclusion, I find it sad that you're content to reward hacks of limited talent (and quite likely garbage human beings of dubious motives) with your money, your time, and your adulation - the world is a worse place for it.

The fact that you cannot see it, pathetic.

reply

Either that or just a low brow troll attempt. No thought was put into it.

reply

It's all good, I've got nothing better to do, literally just sitting here waiting for glue to dry.

Debating single mothers sitting around with 4+ kids by 3 baby daddies while waiting for their SNAP cards to arrive really is the best use of my time.

reply

Sorry to disappoint you, but I’m very happily married and we are both gainfully employed. Just happen to have a little downtime at work. Fortunately for you, I should be very busy next week.

reply

You used a lot of big words and phrases to try to make yourself sound intelligent, but really all you did was insult me. Insulting someone who disagrees with you does not make you right, it just makes your argument weak. You can't argue that this movie will be bad because you haven't seen the movie. Actually, you haven't attempted to argue that the previous movies were bad, you just said they had to be based on how they did at the box office.

If you want to make a case, make a case. Attacking the person who disagrees with you might get you laughs in junior high, but when you get older, it's only going to make you look weak.

reply

You think I used 'big words' in my response? Where are they?

I'll admit 'unbeknownst' is dated and pretentious, but 'big' . . . uh, no.

Actually, the real fun didn't begin until you laid down this line:

I was subtly pointing out the idiocy of your statements.

And now, you're playing the victim when I return fire? Classic!

In any case, if I cede your point that I'm both immature and uneducated, then I have an excuse for being on a no account movie website screwing around.

I mean, what else am I going to do with my time - I'm an idiot, right?!

But you, with your intellect, wasting your precious time screwing around on a movie website, when you probably have the education to be doing cancer research or resolving geopolitical issues in the Middle East, you're here spending your time arguing with people like me.

How sad that you are selfishly choosing to deny the world your gifts - or at the very least, deny your family your undistracted presence.

Anyway, enjoy your movie; and be sure to buy lots of merch, the team is losing their ass and needs your help!

reply

Actually, I didn't say you were an idiot. I merely pointed out that your statements were idiotic. You, on the other hand, called me a "retard."

reply

Expecting an intelligently written movie from Jar Jar Abraams is like expecting the sun to rise in the west. I bet dollars to donuts that the entirety of Episode 9 will be a feeble attempt to retcon as much of the shitfest that was The Last Jedi.

reply

Until you see the 3rd act of a trilogy, you can't know for certain that everything happened exactly as you think it did in the 2nd act.

Even so, I have no doubt that I will enjoy watching this movie.

reply

Now, now, I didn't precisely call you a retard any more than you precisely called me an idiot - but I will say, in view of our enjoyable exchange, that you're going to make some lucky guy a great ex-wife . . . that is, if you haven't already.

;o)

reply

I hope it's bad, I hope it's so bad that even you start questioning your life after the last one.

reply

I would never allow a movie (good, bad, incredible or otherwise) cause me to question my life. I have seen some very powerful movies like "The Mission" and "Babette's Feast" (and countless others) that have given me things to think about. Then again, that was the point. But I would never allow a Star Wars movie to allow me to question my life. What kind of a sick statement is that?

reply

There is 0 chance that this will be the worst movie ever.

reply

but the leaks says it will be the worst movie ever.

reply

RATIONAL THOUGHT....WTF ARE YOU DOING?

reply

I'm sure it will be technically superb with great costumes, effects, cinematography, sound design, music, etc. It will please critics who have little interest in Star Wars and get great reviews, just like The Last Jedi did. Those who aren't interested in the lore or in story consistency or the character arcs but only want to see cool light saber fights, noisy chase scenes and spaceships zooming around will love it. But it has ZERO chance of winning over anyone who hated The Last Jedi. The very fact they're bringing back Palpatine completely destroys any meaning for Episodes I - VI. If you think KK and JJ are even interested in trying to win you back, you're sorely mistaken. They are going to triple down, hard. At this point, they enjoy pissing you off. Your only recourse is to not pay them money.

reply

Bingo.

reply

What is this "pay money" thing you speak of?

reply

Ahoy, mate! Shiver Me Timbers!

reply

DONT FORGET FUEL CONSERVATION!

reply

George Lucas himself said that The Last Jedi was a "beautifully made film" after all. He said nothing of its plot or subject matter. He could only praise what deserved praising xD

reply

Big Chance you Village Idiots have brain cancer from watching YooToob Trolls.

reply

Couldn't agree more

reply

You call the Fandom Menace trolls, you'll have an epic fight on your hands.

reply

There trolls , bring it on

reply

Those "trolls" have made more sense about Star Wars than people like you or Disney themselves.

reply

How so ?

reply

They outline every single way Disney has insulted fans, Lucas and the material and I've agreed with nearly every complain they've ever made. And many MANY people agree with what they have to say.

What you perceive to be a troll group I perceive to be a group of deeply-impassioned fans who speak to EXACTLY what frustrates me about Disney's treatment of Star Wars. The box office drop from film-to-film more than illustrates that this isn't some "fringe minority" as people like you would like to spin--there is a seriously large amount of the fanbase that's pissed off.

People like you and some apologists I know off the internet are the ones I don't care to hear from in these matters. The defenses are shit and basically amount to: "So, you don't like it. Move on" and "Disney gave us a gift and you're disrespecting it" and a bunch of ass-kissing nonsense. You guys even go as far as to act as if it's somehow "wrong" to be hurt by what Disney has done or act as if being a passionate fan is somehow pathetic or this and that--blah blah blah--anything to demean those complaining in an attempt to trivialize criticism against these Disney treatments.

100% of the apologist complaints for these Disney treatments amount to: "I'm not obsessed with this series like you and can accept that things change. You're the problem. Not Disney." and that's that.

Well, I have this say: who are people like you to decide what is/isn't "acceptable" fan behavior? Who are you to decide that being a deeply-impassioned fan is somehow a bad thing/something not to be taken seriously? And that IS the gist of it: "Fans stuck in the past who can't move on" and "My life isn't tied into Star Wars, bruh!" and so on. That's it: all attempts to trivialize critics as "pathetic complainers" and so on. Look at the way you downgrade them all to this "troll" category. Who are you? You seem far more like a troll than them with the way you jump on every critic around here and act like you're the authority over what complaints are "permissible" or not. Acting like people should see the movie before voicing a complaint about aspects of it. Who died and made you that deciding factor?

You might want to consider opening your eyes and truly reading around the internet. Nearly every article about Disney Star Wars trilogy on the internet has mostly negative or, at best, divided comments sections. Who are you to decide that other half is "wrong" and you're somehow the right one all because you've decided in your mind what fans should/shouldn't be doing?

reply

Dude i dont read into stuff , i watch movies and decide there and then if i like them , very simple ,i certainly dont trawl the internet listening to people like doomcock, im not saying Disney is perfect as a really hated the last jedi, but even if lucas would of written and directed the sequels they would still moan , it would be like indiana jones 4 , it just a no win situation

reply

See, you're doing it RIGHT there in your reply. So many presumptions. So much application of YOUR view of how to approach a film and criticism. News flash: not everyone thinks and reasons as you do and your approach doesn't somehow have more validity just because you're not being negative.

reply

Yes thankyou for these points. These people think because they do not care enough about something, that others should not care too. It is silly reasoning. They just think we should accept crazy decisions, just because. Very strange.

reply

Yep. So far, 99% of the Disney Star Wars trilogy defenses are: "I don't invest in movies that much to care" and "Stop complaining and watch something else then!" and "It's just a movie, bruh!".

All that shows is that the majority of the people defending this garbage trilogy are people who admittedly don't give much of a damn about Star Wars and are watching just as casual fans. That then leads us to the final point here: what right does a casual fan have to tell a hardcore fan how they "should" feel about a franchise?

reply

See my reply above.

Somehow now because i believe some of the rumours and leaks might be true that now means i'm not a true fan.

These peope are truely wierd.

reply

99% of them will vanish without a trace once this movie premieres and all the leaks are proven to be true. Happened all the time on IMDB and now that idiocy continues here.

reply

Somehow now because i believe some of the rumours and leaks might be true that now means i'm not a true fan.

And that statement above is the 'No True Scotsman' fallacy.

You need to look at these boards as a game to test and improve your critical thinking skills, all of which begins with playing 'spot the fallacy'.

It's actually kind of fun, but also like shooting-fish-in-barrel after a while as well.

reply

Big chance the fanboys who'd buy dog turd if it were packaged with a Star Wars logo will call this movie the best since Empire! 😂

reply

Jesus christ grow up , just because people like it theres no need to be so hyper critical, if you dont like it fine , go talk about a film you do like and stop acting a dick for 11 seconds

reply

These forums are for people who like and dislike movies, if you can't take it, get off the internet or move to North Korea. 😉

reply

But you haven't seen TROS so how can you criticise it ?

reply

It was a light hearted joke, you see my emoji? I put that there to show it’s just a joke.

But what I know about it, such as Palps return doesn’t make me enthusiastic about it.

reply

This guy acts as if we can't possibly know the return of Palpatine is stupid unless we see the movie.

If you're fundamentally against the return of a character (and the fact that said return of said character invalidates the first six films of the saga) then seeing the movie won't change that.

reply

Yes palpatine return is obviously desperate ploy. Can see this a mile away...but for some reason we cannot criticise? Why? Is completely stupid.

reply

Exactly. I have a brain. I don't need to take a bite out of a turd sandwich to know it's shit.

reply

[deleted]

Funny how he tells you to grow up after essentially telling you to stop complaining and only post about movies you like. This guy doesn't seem to grasp that this is "Moviechat" not "Disney Star Wars Fans Forum".

This guy is all over every one of us who criticize Disney Star Wars and even tries to marginalize us all as "a small group of trolls, nothing more".

I find it amazing that there are still apologists out there who can't see how divided the fanbase is right now. I guess those massive box office reductions from Last Jedi and Solo were "just something else".

The level of denial is legendary.

reply

Save the criticism until you have seen the movie first is what im saying, how on earth people can be so critical before its even released is laughable

reply

Palpatine is in it.

That very reason invalidates Luke and Anakins story making episode 1 to 6 pointless.

That alone is enough for me to criticize and detest this movie before it is even released.

That alone is enough for Disney not to see a penny of my money.

I am free to say what ever i want about the movie before, during or after the movies release.

Disney has destroyed Star Wars

"You can love Star Wars and still hate Disney Star Wars"

reply

EXACTLY. Why do we need to see Palpatine in the movie to know his return invalidates Vader's sacrifice and everything Luke and co. worked for?

But, we're trolls, don't you know. I guess half the Star Wars fanbase are all trolls then, going by the apologist logic.

reply

Ok i dont disagree, it is pretty weak that they have used him again

reply

There you go. If that destroys the movie for a person then why must they "watch it first" as you suggest? If a person is fundamentally against a major movie decision and all its trickle-down effects it causes by even EXISTING then seeing the movie isn't going to change that.

reply

I hate all the sequel trilogy characters. I've hated them for two movies now. Am I going to magically like Super-Rey, Idiot Finn, Dry Toast Poe and Angsty Ren this time?

I am fundamentally against the return of Palpatine because of what his return means for the first six films. Why do I need to see that idea play out on screen if I'm already against it?

There you go again, Furious.

Not.everyone.thinks.like.you.

reply

LOL at those names!

reply

But it's OK for you to be hyper critical of people who don't like this movie? I don't see dozens of people replying to all your praise posts, telling you to shut up but you're here, acting like a forum Nazi to anyone complaining about this, shooting every word they say down.

As the other guy stated, this is a discussion forum and Disney has polarized the Star Wars fanbase. If you can't handle the massive amount of people pissed off by Disney then maybe discussion forums aren't your thing. This isn't a fan site. People have different opinions from you.

reply

I don't know which video is creepier.

Hey! You're one of those Russians who have been subversively spreading negative posts about the Star Wars movies on the internet to diminish an iconic American phenomenon. You just want us to become disenchanted with our heroes and lose hope so that when you invade, we won't have the heart to put up much resistance. You gave yourself away by how you utilize the English language. Don't take my word for it everyone. Just read the original post with a Russian accent and judge for yourself.

You'll never take Star Wars from us, you commie bastards! NEVER!!!!!
