If Leia doesn't die in this film...

it is a stupid idea not to recast her in Episode 9.

Trevorrow said he had a plan for a Leia reunion with Luke in IX. Wasnt he pretty much spoiling that Leia survives The Last Jedi?

reply

He could have been lying, or he could have been planning a force ghost reunion. (Leia has the force, remember; so she could show up as a force ghost just like Obi-Wan and Yoda). I would have preferred for one legendary character to be killed off in each film; (Han in 7, Leia in 8 and Luke in 9).

Good point. I thought it was a little weird when he made that statement. If Leia dies in The Last Jedi and they do it right, it has potential to be one of the best and most emotional moments in the whole saga.

Sorry for my english, im Argentinian.

I really REALLY hate the idea of seeing all of them die! I suppose I wanted to see Leia live on and rule the galaxy at the end, ideally with a resurrected Han at her side.

I'd also love to see Luke live and bring the Force to new generations, whether or not he makes them into Jedi... but I don't have a lot of hope there. The father figure/mentor character always dies.

I wish they would recast her role too. I read that Han was to be the focus in Episode 7, Luke in Episode 8 and then Leia in Episode 9. How perfect!

Instead, I get the feeling that she'll be dead at the beginning of episode 9 with a tribute. I feel so cheated as a Star Wars fan. ☹

reply

I hope they eventually release the original script that had her as the core character.

Seems odd the order you listed, though. Why not make Luke the focus of the final Star Wars instead of Leia?

reply

The order wasn't my idea.

Kathleen Kennedy quote:
"The minute she (Carrie Fisher) finished, she grabbed me and said, ‘I’d better be at the forefront of IX!’ because Harrison(Ford) was front and center on VII, and Mark (Hamill) is front and center on VIII. She thought IX would be her movie. And it would have been."

I would like to read the original script for episode 9 AND read George Lucas' ideas for the trilogy.

reply

Oh I thought it was like a thematic thing with the stories. That quote clears it up, thanks.

How do you recast someone as recognizable, charismatic, and true to the character of Leia?

This is going to take some serious voice morphing and computer graphics, which will be expensive, for her to be convincing in IX.

reply

You get her sister Joely Fisher to fill the part. She sounds just like her.
