John Boyega Gets Honest About The Last Jedi, Calls It a Bit Iffy

The cast and director J.J. Abrams have been making the press rounds lately to promote the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Abrams also directed The Force Awakens, but passed the torch to Rian Johnson, who served as writer/director of The Last Jedi. John Boyega, during a recent interview, opened up a bit about his conflicting feelings regarding the second movie in this sequel trilogy. Here's what he had to say about it.

"The Force Awakens I think was the beginning of something quite solid, The Last Jedi if I'm being honest I'd say that was feeling a bit iffy for me. I didn't necessarily agree with a lot of the choices in that and that's something that I spoke to Mark [Hamill] a lot about and we had conversations about it. And it was hard for all of us, because we were separated."

Mark Hamill has shared similar thoughts over the last couple of years. While Hamill has praised director Rian Johnson as a filmmaker, he's also expressed frustrations over the way Luke Skywalker was handled in the new trilogy. Hamill certainly isn't alone in that respect, as The Last Jedi proved to be rather divisive amongst the fanbase. It certainly has turned into a love/hate entry within the franchise.

Not iffy, whiffy, it was garbage

Better be careful about that kind of talk. He'll have the woke Twitter brigade and media after him.

Who could possibly love this trash? And of course Boyega hates it, he was the comic relief in it.

reply

Finally something we agree on

reply

Exactly that and he was a means to an end so that Rian Johnson could push forward his SJW feminist agenda which is so not what I go to a Star Wars movie for

reply

He feels iffy about it? Which translates that he hated it. Which makes him a racist, mysoginistic toxic manbaby.

reply

Its a masterpiece

You know the character of FINN had the potential to be a very interesting concept and could have been a new direction the series has never gone before. Too bad they completely fcked it up

reply

The fact that they made a great profit and got overwhelming critical acclaim says you are wrong. It is time to mature into an adult and realize that stuff does not need your stamp of approval in order for other people to think it is good.

I just want to know what his conversations with Mark Hamill were like.

JB: "Mark, this guy is destroying my character..."

MH: "You think your character is getting destroyed? 30 plus years of supporting these movies, going to conventions, engaging the fans, ect., and my character is being completely ruined. A generation of kids that grew up with Luke Skywalker as a hero now get to witness his complete undoing. And did you read the end of this shit? I don't even leave that fucking island to go help. I send a force projection (wank wank) to the salt planet to confront Adam. Then he shoots me with a bunch of guns and I make a brush it off gesture like I was Jet Li in a late '90s action film with Steven Segal. Has this guy even seen a Star Wars movie? So, not only is Luke a piece of shit now, but he doesn't even get off his dead ass to try and make it right. And then I fucking die... I don't even live to finish the saga ... but let me hear what they did to you.

JB: "..."

This is a very polarizing movie, seems you either love or hate it. To me its ok - better than the prequels but not as good as the OT or the Force Awakens. Only two things I really hate about the movie - Leia flying through space after being dead and the casino subplot with mumbles Del Toro.
