But also it's about feminism, General Leia and baby boomer women, Rey and Kylo as angry millennials, and Gen X's Poe.''

You see guys, its not about a galaxy, far far away. Its not about adventures in space in a time and place where earth related issues are non existent and you can just enjoy escapism. Its about our 21st century and all the SJW, generalization bullshit that comes with it. Its not about fun and adventure, its about politics. Lucasfilm doesn't give a fck about the fans that actually just want to enjoy all the lore and mythology. They just want to shove their political views in your face. Thanks.

I read the first few paragraphs and stopped.

It mentions that "She (Leia) begins the tale in the (chronologically) first movie, Star Wars IV: A New Hope, by standing up to her father, defying his rule of law and order. " Except that she does not know him as her father at the time she does it. In fact, she never encountered him as his daughter because she never knew he was her father.

it continues with : "In the two most recent films, The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, Leia is no longer a princess; somehow she has grown not into a queen but instead into a general." Yes, a General who in just 30 years lead the Republic to such a downfall that there are only a handful of people left. Her trusting of a plan by an old friend (Holdo) got MANY people killed because they ran out of fuel.

What I got out of this is that if it were a story of Leia, it only showed her triumphs and not her failures but it showed the failures of all the men.

Yeah. Exactly. Because women are amazing and men are weak and shit. Thanks for the life lesson Lucasfilm!
Leia should have become a queen and should have done a better fcking job leading the Republic. Instead it all failed and now we are back at square 1 having a new 'Empire' and 'Rebellion' JIPEEEY

Men that are so weak etc. that the only way these folks seem to think they can have strong women equal them is to play these men as dumb or evil. That tells me they have zero faith in these strong women they are creating since the only way they can appear strong in their eyes is when men are downplayed enough to allow them to be.

History has proven this is not even necessary when female characters are simply well written. I mean, for one, look at Aliens, Hicks was a main and competent character throughout but Ripley remained the obvious alpha without having Hicks needing to be walking around like a moronic schoolboy.

Or the newest Mad Max. Max was capable enough in that story and kicked enough ass. Aswell as the warboy that also joins in. Furiousa takes center stage but all the male characters are well written. Its a feminist story but it doesnt smack you in the face with it. Its realistic and gritty.

What an overly long read that was. Interesting interpretation of the saga. I don't subscribe to it. You can make anything about anything if you sling enough crap at it. Same theory building supports JarJar being a Sith Lord.

Difference is Rian Johnson actually read this shit and said he liked it.
It aligns with his views.

I believe that. I don't think there was a grand design involved. But that his beliefs would influence the decisions he came up with, sure. The fact that they want a guy who thinks that way and holds those values spearheading the saga into the future is pretty grim. But twenty years from now some other asshole can deconstruct and obliterate everything he built. That's the fun of generational art. That's why I don't really care. I had the movies I loved, when I needed them, and i'm good. I don't need to chase that dragon into my golden years.

Maybe for you.. But Rian destroyed everything I loved and then some. Sure I can hope someone in the future destroys his work, but I would have loved to see my fav saga expand and improve even more. Now I have to just let the new movies die and hide away with the old movies. Star Wars just means alot to me so it hurts more. I know people say ''well its just a movie'' but thats not the case for alot of fans.

The original trilogy was inspired by Nixon and Vietnam. It has been liberal politics since the 70s.

Fact check on aisle 5. The OT was inspired by Kurosawa. Also if your argument involves bashing a beloved trilogy to prop up a modern film, you've already lost. Keep that in mind.

There was no Nixon in Star Wars at all. It was about a fairy tale similiar to the Flash Gordon cliffhangers of the late 1930s. The politics started wiht Ep1.

The only politics they introduced was a powerplayer in the senate that used a evil masterplan to bring down democracy. Nobody is mad or offended about those messages, because we all like democracy.
As soon as you start attacking white males however, and shoving SJW crap in peoples faces, you get a riot.

Star Wars is escapism. You cant give me that ''a long time ago in a galaxy far far away'' and then proceed to put ALL of earth's SJW crap in my face. How would I believe its a galaxy far far away if they have the same bullshit 'problems' as wel have now? To some degree (like a dictator rising and shutting down democracy) its believable. But TLJ just took it waaaaay to far.
They are doing the same with Star Trek now. Star Trek Discovery touches on themes like racism and culture and loyalty (going as far as to call the enemies of the good guys 'Trump supporters'.
The whole idea of Star Trek was that non of the issues we have today are present there, because we have outgrown them and they live in a utopia regarding Earth. A very positive and inspirational look into the future. We no racism and sexism exists.

I don't care if they do this shit in lets say, Transformers, because that takes place on earth. But please live this out of Star Wars.
