I think it already starting to creep its way in now. With the disappointment of this film, and if Han Solo next year is a bomb. That is going to do some serious damage. If they do a live action TV series as well as putting out a new film each year. It won't take long. Especially if they don't keep the quality up.
I've seen it happen with Star Trek back in the 90's. I remember when it was at it's height of popularity in the early 90's. You had TNG on TV, Star Trek 6 in theatres, and DS9 on it's way to TV.
Then the TNG movies got off on a bad start with Generations, Voyager came out and was a week series. Then DS9 got over shadowed. Then Enterprise came out, and that series had no steam at all.
Disney is doing the same thing with Star Wars. How long it will take I'm not sure.
Excuse me? DS9 is fully awesome and Voyager was great! Only Enterprise was half-bad, literally.
Oh I agree I like DS9, but at the time star trek burned itself out. With all the bad TNG movies, and Voyager had a lot of boring episodes, and Enterprise just killed it.
