What's left for Kylo now to return to the Light?

First of all, I'm deeply saddened to hear about Carrie's passing. I can't imagine what that's been like for her family, and even her dog Gary, during the holidays and in the future going forward.

While I respect people who say 'Why discuss the movie now? It's just a movie?', it isn't though, is it? Not really. Star Wars isn't 'just a film', and I think it's fair that people discuss how this impacts the film. This can also be seen as a compliment, as it means people feel Carrie's character Leia is still one of the major characters of this trilogy, despite her limited screentime so far.

Now, my actual question is this: With Han and now of course, sadly, Leia's deaths, what is there for Kylo/Ben to return to? It seemed like Leia, his mother, was the only thing tying him to the light. My understanding is that his inner struggle for the rest of the saga was very much like that of Anakin in RoTS.

It's possible that his mother being killed - potentially by the First Order in an attack that occurs without his knowledge - could push him back towards the light and make him determined to bring the First Order and Snoke down. He already seems to be pained and distressed by his father's murder (it certainly didn't entrench him in the dark side as he wanted it to), so I don't see him being happy about his mother's death - he may finally appreciate the love of his parents in a way he didn't when they were alive, with their deaths motivating him to honour their love for and belief in him.

But we'll see. It still feels too early for this.

/\ This.

Wasn't he also kidnapped as a child? Or did he wilfully walk into Snoke's arms?

simian - Don't know if he was kidnapped...but the novelization seems to imply that Snoke had been watching Ben for a long time because he knew Ben would be strong in the Force. He's probably been warping his mind for years.

That would be bloody great.

WE DON'T NEED ANOTHER REDEMPTION STORY JESUS CHRIST YOU LOSERS

Either Luke, Bail Organa (who is rumored to be back in Episode IX), or C3P0.

There is no redemption for someone like him. He killed his dad in cold blood. Sorry to shut down your question but that's like saying an Isis guy can be redeemed after burning someone alive.

It's possible. It seems a part of the human condition that it takes tragedy to get people to appreciate those most precious.

Why do people assumed he is going to return to the light?
